Arthrex, Inc. is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. Arthrex is actively searching for a Sr. Engineer I for the Continuous Improvement team to support improving product development processes by using continuous improvement techniques. Excellent interpersonal, presentation and leadership skills along with five years or more of related engineering experience and a bachelor's degree in Engineering are essential for this position. Knowledge of lean/ six sigma strategies required with Black Belt certification preferred. The position will be located at our SWFL corporate office. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Executes continuous improvement projects to support the product development organization.

  • Applies Lean and Six Sigma methodologies in the implementation of process excellence initiatives.

  • Drives the standardization of processes and the implementation of metrics and best practices.

  • Facilitates kaizen, problem solving and rapid improvement process events with both internal and external employees and suppliers with a major emphasis on focused improvement.

  • Communicate with all levels of the organization as appropriate to gain and maintain support for initiatives.

Education & Experience :


  • 5 years relevant experience

  • BS degree in Engineering required. MS degree preferred.

Skills:


  • Knowledgeable of engineering product development required.

  • Knowledgeable of FDA and ISO guidelines for the development, take charge, and offer opinions and direction

  • Knowledge of business and management principles required for strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

  • Manufacturing process knowledge preferred.

  • Supply Chain process knowledge preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead process change efforts.

  • Lean or Six Sigma certification, Black Belt or above preferred.

  • Leadership - requires a willingness to lead, take charge, and offer opinions and direction

  • Time management - manage one's own time and the time of others

  • Critical thinking - using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

  • Negotiating - the power to influence and gain buy-in from the team.

  • Disciplined execution - job requires holding the team accountable through daily execution to the plan. When required, he/she will need to be able to dive into details to ensure operational success.

Knowledge :

Complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards. Regularly contributes to the development of new concepts, techniques, and standards. Full knowledge of industry practices.

Reasoning Ability :

Develops solutions to a variety of complex problems. May refer to established precedents and policies. Makes proposals to policy improvements to align solutions with organization objectives.

Discretion/ Latitude :

Work is performed under general direction. Participates in determining objectives of assignment. Plans schedules and arranges own activities in accomplishing objectives. May supervise the activities of lower-level personnel.
