FACULTY POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT Tenure Track Assistant Professor COLLEGE OF NURSING AND HEALTH SCIENCES The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) at the University of Vermont (UVM) is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor (9-months), effective August 2023. Salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications. All areas of expertise will be considered; however, preference will be given to expertise in phonetics, speech-sound disorders, linguistics, developmental speech motor control, or closely related field. The successful candidate will develop a vigorous sponsored research program, teach undergraduate and graduate level courses, and mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students, in addition to professional contributions and service. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge, skills, and/or interest in contributing to the diversity and inclusive excellence of the academic community through their teaching, service, and research, scholarship, or creative arts. Required qualifications by the date of appointment. * Ph.D. in Speech and Hearing Sciences, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or a closely - related field. ABD will be considered with evidence of degree completion by the employment date. * Candidates must show potential for a strong record of research and scholarship. * Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language Hearing Association is preferred but not required. The College The college is home to more approximately 1200 students in eight different health professions comprising seven undergraduate and six graduate degree programs including an interdisciplinary PhD. We are part of an academic health sciences center including Vermont's tertiary care hospital, the Larner College of Medicine and a state-of-the-art interdisciplinary clinical simulation laboratory, within proximity to the University campus. The Department The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is part of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences https://www.uvm.edu/cnhs/csd. It is located in the heart of campus in Pomeroy Hall, a spacious building containing faculty and staff offices, research laboratories, and an in-house speech-language and hearing clinic. The successful candidate will join a department with tenure track, clinical faculty, lecturers and staff that are dedicated to educating the nearly 90 undergraduate students and 38 graduate students in our programs. Program offerings include an undergraduate major in Communication Sciences and Disorders, MSc. and Ph.D. programs in Speech Language Pathology, and post-baccalaureate Speech Language Pathology certificates. Faculty have extensive collaborations with other departments and programs within the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, the Department of Psychological Science, and the College of Education and Social Services. The Community UVM is located in Burlington, Vermont, which is rated as one of the best small cities in the country. The greater Burlington area has an increasingly diverse population of about 125,000 and enjoys a panoramic setting on the shore of Lake Champlain, between the Green Mountains of Vermont and the Adirondack Mountains of New York State.
