Position Overview

This is a skilled position requiring the individual to effectively schedule and order materials to meet our customers needs. This position will work with both internal and external customers. This position requires speaking with customers on the phone, making good customer relations skills essential and requires a basic knowledge of the construction industry. This position will coordinate the ordering of consumables for United Companies asphalt plants. This position will track and report one orders, demand and material supply.

Wage: $22 - $26 dependant on experience

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)


  • Build Production schedule for the commercial plant (not the portables)

    • Place calls, received call, email and texts from external asphalt customer

    • Check in with CDOT Maintenance, Cities and Counties.

      • Too often they just show up out of nowhere.

      • Close out conversation to take what you order, unless we can sell it to others



    • Communicate with internal customer (i.e., construction)

    • Track volumes of larger commercial project

    • Daily or weekly reporting of to-go tons



  • Prism Champion and Trainer

    • Ensure Mix Designs are loaded ahead of production

    • Reconcile production daily



  • JWS Champion and Trainer

    • Ensure Customer(s), Job(s) and Mix(s) are loaded ahead of production

    • Train new employees on the system

    • Ensure that tickets are uploaded into OnBase daily
      • In sequential order




  • Daily Consumables ordering

    • Asphalt

    • Lime

    • Liquid Additive

    • RFO

    • Track order to actual delivered consumables



  • Collect Bills of Lading for the consumables that were order prior day
    • Ensure Bills of Ladings are emailed to accounting


  • Participate & Coordinate Asphalt Production Calls
    • Monday thru Thursday


  • Track Hours & Attendance

    • Ensure equipment hours are reported correctly

    • Ensure that employees are not missed



  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience


  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.

  • Knowledge of the concrete and construction industry preferred.

  • Two (2) years experience with order taking and asphalt product knowledge preferred.

Work Requirements


  • Must be 18 years in age or older.

  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.

  • Report to the office dressed appropriately according to company policy ready to work at the designated start time.

  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

  • Must be willing to work off hours, nights, weekends and occasionally holidays when necessary

Knowledge/Skill Requirements


  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • Working knowledge of QuickBase and Microsoft suite of tools including Excel, Word and Outlook preferred. Must be able to use the internet effectively.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration, percent, land to draw and interpret bar graphs

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions


  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Willingness and ability to work in and adapt to changes in circumstances, tasks, customer needs and other conditions that may affect their daily responsibilities.


  • Ability to cope well in stressful environments and communicate professionally. Must have excellent customer service skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands to finder, handle, or feel. The employee must ocassionally lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. Specifit vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance svision, color vision, prepheral vision and depth perception.
