Job Description & Responsibilities

Persistent Systems is seeking a Director of Business Development, USN who will be responsible for growing business by identifying and establishing new customer relationships, as well as maintaining our existing ones for our USN customers. You will also be responsible for capturing US Naval aviation, maritime surface, and subsurface platforms business, managing high revenue accounts, and assisting with programmatic measures to ensure that customers receive the best products and services available for their needs. Additionally, you will be tasked with creating and implementing strategies that will expand Persistent Systems' customer base on a global scale.

Position Responsibilities


  • Identifying potential new customers; managing and developing existing customer relationships

  • Developing sales strategies and unique selling propositions to meet sales targets

  • Collaborating with Sales and Engineering to identify new product opportunities

  • Developing and retaining existing customer relationships by presenting solutions to meet customer needs, ensuring customer satisfaction

  • Managing key accounts after the initial sale

  • Creating business proposals, handling initial negotiations, and closing business deals as part of a team

  • Identifying industry and marketing events and trade shows that will provide opportunities to expand the company's customer base

  • Organizing and traveling to trade shows to identify new business opportunities and strengthen current customer relationships

  • Conducting presentations for large groups of internal and external stakeholders

  • Adhering to established sales-administrative processes that allow for the transparent flow of communication between sales and internal operations teams


Job Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience

  • Prior Experience interfacing with Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), and the Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) on acquisition programs of record

  • Experience in a senior-level role interacting between the DoD and the Defense industry

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Radio Frequency (RF) and network theory

  • Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time

  • Must have a United States Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a United States Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of Sales/Business Development experience with commercial and/or Government customers

  • Master's degree in business or a related field

  • Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act certifications from DAU

  • Prior experience interacting with the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development and Acquisition (ASN RD&A) and/or subordinate Program Executive Offices for capability modernization purposes

  • Prior experience interfacing with the Department of the Navy (DON) Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP)

  • Prior Experience interfacing with the Naval Facilities Engineering Command

  • Strong understanding of acquisition/procurement process within the Department of the Navy C5ISR community


The pay for this role can vary from $140,000 to $160,000 a year based on the selected individual's education and experience.
