JOB TITLE: Principal Engineer-Projects, (Individual Contributor Role)

DEPARTMENT: Business Strategy 

JOB SUMMARY

Leads the execution of High Complexity Projects through its Life Cycle.  Included, but not limited to, in high complexity projects are:  Equipment and/or Process Development, Integration of one or several major equipment (automation/high volume type) within an existing product line, and Line transfers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

•    Provides the project team with leadership, planning, and coordination for all project activities

•    Defines, manages, and controls the project’s scope, schedule, budget, resource allocation, and risks 

•    Manages project procurements

•    Continuously and appropriately communicates between Sr. Management, project sponsor, team members, and other stakeholders to balance stakeholders’ goals, and reach alignment on project decisions

•    Partners with Quality to develop a thorough and effective Quality Plan

•    Executes validation activities such as:  Protocols, Execution, Deviations, and Reports

•    Motivates the team toward the successful completion of the project’s objectives

•    Balances the competing constraints on the project 

•    Develops relationships that assist the team in achieving the goals and objectives of the project

•    Maintains a strong advocacy role within the organization; work with the project sponsor to address internal organizational factors that may impact the team, or the viability, or the quality of the project

•    Assures compliance with laws and regulations

•    Administrates payroll, as needed

•    Ability to identify the right balance between being a manager and a leader depending on the situation

•    Ability to develop an appropriate project delivery strategy

•    Ability to determine which business factors should be considered for the project and how these factors could affect the project, while understanding the interrelationship between the project and the organization

•    Fully Bilingual (English and Spanish)

•    Computer literate: Knowledge on MS Project, MS Visio, MS Excel, MS Power Point, and MS Word

•    Highly motivated, self-starter, and responsible person

WORK ENVIRONMENT

•    Usually works in a closed environment, in office conditions, with moderate level of noise and controllable changes of temperature

•    Needs to stand, walk, and may be seated for long periods

•    Uses hands to feel, handle and reach

•    Performs light physical effort with little exposure to adverse conditions

•    Required to travel

•    Works with a personal computer and programs to prepare documents or reports

•    Applies communication skills (advance reading, writing, and technical skills) and mathematical concepts knowledge to perform work and coordinate with others

•    Needs to have high analytical capacity and level of professionalism and judgment to resolve problems

•    Incumbent could work near moving mechanical parts

EDUCATION

•    B.S. in Engineering

•    PMP or graduate studies in PM is a plus

EXPERIENCE

•    5+ years in Project Management

•    5+ years in medical device or pharmaceutical industry
