The Mass General Brigham Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO) is seeking an experienced senior data engineer who has a passion for healthcare data and will thrive as a member of an experienced, high performing and highly motivated team. This individual will possess a willingness to learn and an ability to adapt to the rapidly changing analytic and reporting needs of our system. The ideal candidate has strong technical, analytical, and communication skills, as well as experience working with health care data.
Reporting to the Business Intelligence Manager, this person will be a member of a cross-functional team responsible for developing new clinical data products using cloud-based technologies. They will be responsible for designing the data platforms to house curated data models used by our analytic resources to build enterprise dashboards as well as perform ad hoc analysis. The areas of focus include Quality and Safety, Provider Wellbeing, Community Health and Health Equity, Patient Experience, Credentialing, and Pharmacy and Formulary.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Works with cross-functional teams to plan, design, develop, implement, and enhance business analytics capabilities through data integration/modelling/transformation of various Mass General Brigham and external data sources.
Perform data analysis, including data profiling of the enterprise MGB data warehouse, to obtain a solid understanding of data availability, relationships, and nuances for consideration and incorporation into our final curated data model solution design.
Develop and maintain data modelling/transformation jobs to deliver information requests and deepen the analytics capabilities of MGB operations, fiscal, and administrative staff.
Triage, troubleshoot and resolve data issues from end users and internal team members.
Develop and maintain standards pursuant to MGB's architecture, report documents, dashboards, cubes, and other data warehousing development practices.
Partner with the MGB Digital team(s) to leverage existing tools, methods, and practices to efficiently develop modeling solutions, ensure that work is not duplicated, and is appropriately transitioned between teams.
Create and/or perform peer review of data modelling code produced by other engineers and analysts to ensure that all code and processes conform to MGB and OCMO standards and guidelines.
Create and execute test plans and test scripts for unit and system testing of code and reports, based upon requirements specifications.
Develop and enforce change management and versioning processes for source control/deployment, and monitor/refine said processes to increase efficiency and ease of use.
Manage deployment of final products between development, test, training, and production environments and maintain a proper development cycle.
Assist with performing change impact analysis on code changes to assist with estimating level of effort required for code changes and testing.
Review current operational data structures and data flows and recommend optimizations and opportunities for automation.
Evaluate and recommend new tools and methodologies to assist in meeting business requirements through data integration and reporting.
Provide training to OCMO team and end-users on key analytic and reporting systems and databases when necessary.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, informatics, statistics, or related field and an interest in healthcare and the use of technology to support clinical care.
3-5 years experience with data modelling, ETL/ELT development, or similar role working with complex SQL queries and data extraction/transformation.
Experience with cloud data warehousing environments such as Microsoft Azure and Snowflake are a plus
Experience with ETL/data modelling tools such as dbt, Informatica, and Ab Initio are a plus.
Must possess a strong background in data warehousing projects.
Must be able to identify, triage, and resolve or dispatch issues.
Must possess strong data analysis skills and be able to perform data analysis using SQL, SAS, or similar query languages.
Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
Must be capable of working independently with limited to no supervision.
Must be willing to contribute to and foster a team player culture where all are encouraged and willing to share information accurately.
Experience in Health Care a plus, but not required.
Skills/Abilities/Competencies:
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, along with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with relational database management systems (RDBMS), and an understanding of relational database design.
Experience with cloud environments such as Microsoft Azure and Snowflake preferred.
Experience with data modelling/transformation tools such as dbt preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
