Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Trains new staff in proper processes to achieve the desired room cleanliness standards.
Distributes work assignments and helps coordinate workflow based on anticipated hotel arrivals and to reflect room status changes in the Hotel Property Management System (PMS).
Conducts Supplies and Linen inventories.
General Responsibilities
Performs room inspections to ensure proper adherence to cleanliness standards.
Completes cleaning tasks such as removing and changing dirty linens; cleaning and disinfecting floors, hard surfaces, bathrooms, and fixtures; cleaning hallways, corridors, etc.; removing trash; vacuuming; dusting; and restocking amenities, linens, and paper products. Resolves guest issues, occasionally escalating highly complex issues.
Completes cleaning log and reports status of rooms, escalating issues as needed.
Maintains preventive maintenance schedule, including coordination of deep cleaning, stain treatment, and replacement of damaged items.
May perform general maintenance duties such as changing light bulbs, as well as periodic deep cleaning.
May provide directions and general information to IU visitors and guests in the Biddle Hotel and residential spaces.
May provide guidance to lower-level housekeepers or temporary staff.
Makes process recommendations to supervisor for improved operational efficiency.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
High school diploma or GED
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
4 years of experience in hospitality, customer service, administrative, or related field
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to remain in a stationary position as well as the ability to move about the workplace for long durations. It requires effective communication, the ability to operate machinery, tools, and controls. The role requires the ability to ascend/descend ladders/stairs, and to position one's self in low level positions, detect a variety of chemicals and/or gases. The role requires the ability to ascend to rooftops and move in tight spaces to perform and complete inspections. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
