We seek a full-time Research Technologist to join our Therapeutics Program team in the Center for Computational and Integrative Biology at MGH. The motivated and detail-oriented candidate will drive several projects to develop biological therapeutics for oncology applications (among others). These projects involve rapidly discovering binders (primarily antibodies), protein engineering, and cell-based and animal-based assay development. The candidate will also be involved in projects to identify therapeutic vulnerabilities of rare tumors such as chordoma. The Research Technologist reports to one of the group leaders within the Therapeutics Program and is expected to work independently. The ability to work in a collaborative and fast-paced team environment and to interact with researchers using our services is required.
Principal responsibilities include:
Operates a rapid antibody discovery platform.
Protein engineering to develop biological therapeutics.
Protein expression and purification.
Tissue culture and cell-based assays
Uncovering mechanisms of pathogenesis by investigating the signaling of select tumors (chordoma) .
May develop modifications of existing assay techniques, experimental protocols, or new procedures.
Synthesizing and interpreting experimental results.
Participating in the design and modification of research protocols.
Developing research methodologies within the parameters of experimental protocols and research objectives.
Composing and presenting sections of research reports and manuscripts.
Performing advanced data analysis using advanced statistical techniques.
Responsible for the oversight and coordination of the scheduling of all procedures.
Responsible for troubleshooting problems and instructing others in highly specialized techniques.
Creates new protocols for novel applications and assays
Designs experiments independently
Assists Investigator with determining the most suitable methodology
Performs molecular biology-based experiments
Maintains various electronic inventory databases
Prepares lab reagents, chemicals
Operates lab instruments, equipment
Performs independent literature searches
Organizes and presents findings at lab meetings
Maintains and orders supplies
