Occ Summary

Plan and provide professional nursing care for patients in accordancewith the medical and nursing plans of care and e stablished policies andprocedures. Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.

Work Performed

Plan, provide and document professional nursing care, utilizing the nursing process, in accordance with physician orders and establishedpolicies and procedures under the supervision of the team leader orcharge nurse.Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed andunlicensed care providers. Assist other healthcare personnel in the delivery of patient care. Participate in maintaining the environment of care including equipmentan d material resources. Prioritize work organization and identifyresources available to assist in completing components of care in atimely manner.P articipate in own professional development by maintaining requiredcompet encies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriateassistance ore ducational offerings.Support the development of other staff and formalle arners.Participatein the identification of clinical or operational perf ormanceimprovement opportunities and assist in performance improvementac tivities.Perform otherrelated duties incidental to the work described he rein.

Minimum Qualifications


Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN program. Exception: Registered nurses hiredbetween July 1, 2014 and April 11, 2021 without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are expected to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the program within five years of their start date. Registered nurses hired before July 1, 2014 are not required to enroll in a BSN program to remain in this job classification.
