What You Need for this Position Experience as a Tooling Engineer or equivalent
Experience with injection molding is preferred
Experience providing organizational/administrative/engineering support to the tool room
Experience managing injection mold tool sourcing for lighting products such as headlamps, tail lamps, Marker lamps, work lamps, etc.
Experience in the automotive industry and/or with LED products (Plus)
What You Will Be Doing Develops RFQs and sends requests for injection mold tool quotes
Receives and reviews tooling costs from tool vendors for thermoplastic injection molds and selects vendor
Assist in testing, prototyping, and improving of ideas to ensure purchased components meet specifications
Sources plastic injection molds, reflex/Fresnel nickel electroforms
Supports all Manufacturing Engineers in tooling needs
Serves as a member of Project Core Team groups
Implements all Engineering Change Order (ECO) part design tooling changes
Writes Purchase Orders and approves invoices of project expenditures
Maintains current records for all expenditures for tool purchases
Visits tool vendors to review project issues, applications, timing, status, run-offs and communicates results to NPI project team confirming the mold sample run on form 51-DF-252
Advises Product Part Designers and Product Engineers to ensure part moldability, manufacturability, and cost-efficient tool design
Supports Purchasing Department with outside tooling matters
Supports Product Engineering with Prototype tooling
Drive, document, and implement continual improvement innovation and initiatives for safety, productivity, profitability, and efficiency in tooling
