The CDL Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently operating company-owned tractor-trailer trucks to transport merchandise among the distribution center, retail stores, and various vendor pick-up points. This role may drive for short haul and/or long haul trips, yard work, container shuttles, airport transfers, vacation relief, equipment service and other trips.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure trailers are delivered in a safe, timely, and professional manner
Perform safety inspections before and after trips, checking all vehicle mechanics according to company safety guidelines
Perform or schedule vehicle maintenance when needed
Manage proof of delivery paperwork to ensure proper documentation is maintained and submitted to leadership
Monitor quality of goods. Confirm that each shipment load matches the manifest documentation
Account for the safe handling of freight loaded/unloaded during live loads/unloads. Complete all required paperwork for pickups and deliveries
Check weather conditions and traffic reports before departure
Follow delivery schedule and rest at appropriate times
Comply with all Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and maintain an excellent safety record
Assist with other duties for the distribution center as required, including without limitation organizing trailers within the truck yard to prepare for unloading, loading, and transport
Comply with all company policies, standard operating procedures, and all applicable state and federal laws and regulations
Demonstrate flexibility around work assignments and schedule requirements with prior notification
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Experience with safe and efficient operation of tandem day-cabs or sleepers either over-the-road or regionally required
Experience with electronic equipment and software required (examples: ELD, EDVIR, GPS, CB)
Clean CDL driving record
Valid medical certificate required
Ability to pass a DOT drug test, federal clearinghouse check, DOT physical, and all other state and federal regulatory requirements required
Experience with dry van delivery preferred
