Job Description:

Position Overview:

The Engineering Intern will work within the Engineering Design group and will assist engineers, technicians and managers with a variety of engineering projects.  These projects may include structural analysis, design, checking or detailing for shop fabrication fixtures, lifting assemblies or the physical plant facility; structural analysis for shipping of steel members; welding engineering; or surveying/metrology of steel bridges or components.  Assignments will include work in an office setting, structural steel fabrication shop and in the field.

Qualifications:

Successful candidate will possess the following:


  • Working toward a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

  • Previous experience in a trade, steel fabrication, or construction manufacturing environment preferred

  • Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation or 3D modeling software

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

  • Knowledge of or prior experience in surveying is beneficial

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Prior completion of Statics, Dynamics, Material Science or Strength of Materials

  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people from shop and field coworkers to senior management

  • Interest in field or facility engineering work

  • Minimum GPA: 0 (with a minimum of a B in Statics/Dynamics)
