Neuro-Oncology and Cancer Genomics APRN

The Nemours Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (NCCBD) is seeking a pediatric APRN to join their interdisciplinary team in the management of children with central nervous system (CNS) tumors. This role will primarily focus on the outpatient clinical management of Neuro-oncology patients inclusive of pediatric brain and spinal cord tumors, neurofibromatosis, and associated tumors during the Monday- Friday work week. Additional role expectations include engagement with community stakeholders, participation in research initiatives, quality improvement and other project development. Interested applicants should possess excellent communication skills, the desire to work independently, and the ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary care team.

Roles and Responsibilities will include:


  • In collaboration with a neuro-oncology attending physician: Prescribes chemotherapy/ targeted therapies and monitors patient's response to treatment
  • Provides comprehensive outpatient care to neuro-oncology patients inclusive of triage/follow-up phone calls in conjunction with pre/post treatment and/or sick/urgent care patient visits
  • Management of neuro-oncology patients in the Hematology/Oncology Infusion Room to include, but not limited to those admitted for chemotherapy, supportive and/or palliative care.
  • Serves as an educational resource to the patient/family, nursing staff and provider team.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of pediatric neuro-oncology clinical care pathways
  • Coordinates and monitors patients receiving radiation therapy through outside institutions
  • Serves as a team leader/APRN clinical management driver via a weekly Neuro-oncology outpatient clinic
  • Works in conjunction with the Nemours Genetic Stewardship Program to provide counseling and targeted surveillance to patients/families affected by cancer predisposition syndromes
  • Collaborates with the clinical research nurse with the enrollment and monitoring of patients on Children's Oncology Group (COG), Targeted and Compassionate-Use Drug Studies.
  • Engages with community stakeholders to partner in the care and management of children with central nervous system tumors.
  • Participates in weekly Tumor Board, CNS Tumor Multi-disciplinary meeting, and monthly Chemo-Safety Meeting.

Requirements:

  • Active Delaware (or compact state) Registered Nurse
  • DE APRN Licensure with prescriptive authority
  • DE CSR
  • Federal DEA with Delaware Address
  • National Pediatric Certification
  • Current AHA Healthcare Provider (HCP) Certification required
  • A minimum of 2 years of Pediatric Oncology APRN experience
