The Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for the effective execution of payroll operations in the United States. The Payroll Specialist supports effective and accurate payroll data collection, calculations and disbursements, ensuring the integrity of payroll information posted to the general ledger, and support payroll related inquiries across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Applies specialist knowledge and skills required to support payroll activities such as the collection, review, and analysis of full-cycle payroll related data sources for use in payroll generation for all levels of the organization, across all locations and across multiple time zones.
  • Support equity processing for stock activity in accordance with federal, state and local regulations.
  • Support Tier 2 payroll inquiries, navigate complex situations by recognizing problematic areas, and take ownership of communications through timely resolution.
  • Assist with testing new payroll earnings, deductions, accruals and other new programs in test environment.
  • Continuous evaluation, improvement, and maintenance of existing work processes by implementing lean methodology to ensure most effective use of resources and drive operation excellence.
  • Build and nurture strong working relationships with all levels across the organization, 3rd party providers, and others to resolve issues and drive process improvements.
  • Follow proper governance of payroll data, time and attendance, record keeping and internal controls
  • Improve local processes and systems to ensure cost and operational efficiency in accordance with global policies and best practice.
  • Provide business continuity training for team members and ensure documentation is clear, accessible and audit-ready.

Education: FPC and Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related discipline

Years and Type of Experience:


  • Minimum 5-7 years experience processing payroll on a multicultural team.
  • Foundational understanding of rules, regulations, policies, and practices governing wage payments, distributions, and record keeping across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Payroll Certification or demonstrated knowledge of the fundamentals of the payroll cycle, FLSA, multi-state tax withholding, gross to net, deductions, taxes, direct deposits, and preparing live off cycle.

Key Required Skills, Knowledge and Capabilities:


  • Advanced mathematical and data modeling skills using excel formulas, such as v-lookup, pivot tables and data filtering.
  • Ability to work under pressure and perform multifaceted projects in conjunction with daily activities.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated technical and software ability
  • Knowledge and understanding of HR, Benefits and Payroll interfaces and downstream impacts
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills required
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience working in virtual teams.
  • Must be able to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Proactive, agile, number-sensitive, analytical, and a detailed-oriented, critical thinker.
