Purpose
Provide leadership in the design, development, optimization and operation of manufacturing and supporting processes.

Expectations


  •  Provide technical guidance for resolution of problems for multiple forms of processes and equipment.

  • Initiate, design, develop, and optimize manufacturing or converting asset capability and processes to meet project objectives, from idea generation through proof of principle and commercialization.

  • Apply engineering principles, standards and procedures in the execution of projects and programs to advance process innovation.

  • Communicate project deliverables and expectations effectively to project team members, operations, and maintenance teams to achieve desired project outcomes.

  • Provide functional guidance to suppliers and service providers to achieve project objectives.

  • Develop broadening mastery in technical areas important to the corporation.

  • Carry out all work ensuring effective Safety and Quality behaviors and practices.

  • Document work to ensure knowledge is preserved and protected per K-C standards

  • Continued demonstration and growth in One K-C behaviors and engineering discipline.

Scope
Reports to HT Operations Team Leader and receives direction in the form of general project objectives. Assignments may vary from individual contribution to team leadership. Responsibilities include project results, project control and effective use of human resources. Incumbent is a recognized leader in at least one area of technology, possesses high standards of professional performance, and demonstrates both personal and organizational sensitivity.

Qualifications
Position requires a bachelor's or advanced degree in Chemical or Pulp & Paper engineering.  Demonstrated leadership in achieving results. Knowledge of Lean thinking, tools and processes is preferred.

Dimensions
Vary widely with assignment and typically include:
• Daily operations accountability
• Project responsibility of $0.1 MM to $5 MM
• Project team of three to fifteen people
• Single or multiple projects. 

Accountabilities


  • Design and Development: Provide leadership in the initiation, design, development and optimization of manufacturing and supporting processes to achieve unit objectives.

  • Technical Knowledge: Develop knowledge and skills to be recognized for expertise and leadership in application of engineering principles and/or scientific analysis. Provide advice and counsel sought by others.

  • Safety: Carry out job responsibilities in a safe manner. Develop equipment and processes that meet safety codes, policies and guidelines. Provide for the safety and well-being of operators, maintenance and other personnel.

  • Security and Documentation: Provide leadership in security and documentation to ensure the retrieval of data and protection of proprietary information.

  • Problem Solving: Seek, recognize, define and solve problems/opportunities to achieve unit objectives. Ability to facilitate 4 step problem solving when required.

  • Internal Control: Lead assigned projects/tasks to meet unit objectives within applicable Corporate policies. Place emphasis on CFI and Internal Control.

  • Communications: Communicate fully with superiors, subordinates and others who have need to know. Be informative without being obtrusive or vexatious. Communicate in a way that is timely, yet prompt; complete, yet concise; candid, yet accurate; and clear, yet responsive.

  • Human Resources Development: Assist in the development of others in the area of incumbent's expertise, while demonstrating an understanding of those with a diverse background or experience.

  • QMP: Provide direction and participative leadership in the practical application of the Quality Management Process in all assignments and responsibilities.

Education
Bachelor's or advanced degree in Chemical or Pulp & Paper engineering preferred.
