General Summary: Under limited supervision, provides the plant and staff with the appropriate resources, materials and knowledge to achieve occupational health & safety compliance and injury prevention.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities 


1. Coordinates environmental health and safety programs and policies at manufacturing plant.


2. Coordinates Reser’s safety programs and policies throughout the plant.


3. Coordinates administrative activities of the Corporate Risk Management Plan and others.


4. Develops and provides safety related resources and plant training. Maintains related tracking documentation on Reser’s LMS system. 


5. Advises and assists employees in adherence to company and governmental safety standards.


6. Heavy participation on Incident Investigations and Root Cause – workplace injury/property damage.   


7. Facilitates facility safety committee activity and meetings. 


8. Assists and coordinates OSHA 300 log maintenance with Human Resources. 


9. Frequent safety audits individually and with supervisory staff.


10. Coordinates with appropriate third-party tours and audits (Loss Control, Property).


11. Ongoing work and communication with plant management teams.


 


Job Specifications


1. High understanding of Occupational Health and Safety compliance. Knowledge of Federal and State OSHA/EPA requirements.


2. Manufacturing experience in the food industry is preferred. 


3. Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational (Environmental) Health and Safety or related field is preferred.


4. People oriented position must possess good communication skills.


5. Bilingual – English/Spanish is a plus.


 


Working Conditions


1. Office and production environments – indoors and outdoors.


2. The environment may be wet or dry and temperatures may range from 0°F to 100°F.


3. Occasional exposure to hazardous materials and noise.


4. May require long periods of standing and walking.


5. Availability to travel a couple times a year.


6. Weekend work and off shift work may be required.


7. Occasional lifting with packages in excess of 35 lbs.
