Business Analyst at Chubb in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Job Description:

Key Objective:  As a member of the Project Management/Management Reporting team, serve as a liaison between Chubb’s business/data users and the FIRST IT team and senior management.  The business analyst role requires a skill set that includes management and financial reporting deliverables, critical data analysis and project management tasks in alignment with evolving goals of the organization.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

• In support of process improvements and functional migrations in Chubb Reinsurance Services, reviews and audits software development processes and performs quality review functions. Manages system change aspects in support of digital transformation of Chubb.
  
  
  • Manages the team’s issue resolution repository for delegation, coordination of system issue escalation and testing to resolution.
  
  
  • Documents business requirements from business teams and works closely with development staff throughout the systems development life cycle process.
  
  
  • Collects business and functional requirements; constructs workflow charts, diagrams, and use cases as needed.
  
  
  • Conducts meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings.
  
  
  • Gathers critical information from meetings with various stakeholders.
  
  
  • Works extensively with systems staff and end users to establish thorough test plans and performs testing in support of department initiatives.
  
  
  • Responsible for bug tracking and enhancement documentation;  testing enhancements and  bug fixes to ensure desired results are met.
  
  
  
  


• Perform various reporting duties including production of accurate and timely critical management reports and ad hoc data requests.
  
  
  
  • Works extensively with various Excel worksheets and MS Access Databases for data analysis, building forms and generating reports to accommodate the department’s reporting needs.
  
  
  • Responsible for data validation and accuracy in reporting requests for data that is gleaned from multiple sources, can overlap, and needs to be analysis for potential exclusion in the result set.
  
  
  • Produces reports on an as needed basis in support of the department’s evolving needs for financial information to bill, collect and validate Chubb’s Ceded Reinsurance activity.
  
  
  • Assists in training on reinsurance systems, data sources/extraction and management reporting in support of business needs.
  
  
  
  

Requirements:

• College degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems or other related field or equivalent work experience.


• Excellent written and oral communication skills, experience delivering messages to senior leadership.


• Experience participating in application design, development, and testing is desired.


• Strong math aptitude and familiarity with creating and interpreting complex formulas and business concepts.


• Knowledge of insurance concepts and practices; a desire to learn and grow in the field of ceded/reinsurance operations.


• Strong analysis and critical thinking skills and the ability to handle shifting priorities in workload.


• Ability to work with large data sets utilizing Excel, Access, SQL is desired.
