We are looking for an experienced Director of BI to build a new business intelligence and analytics function within the Safety, Security, and Compliance business segment. The position will report to the Vice President of Operations, and work closely with business leaders to generate KPI’s and deliver significant and impactful analysis and insights directly supporting business goals. The Director is responsible for establishing and evolving enterprise data and business intelligence vision, strategy, governance, and execution to maximize value through thought leadership and utilization of data-driven engagement strategies, business analyses, and systems.  This position will work a hybrid schedule out of the Burlington, MA office.


Responsibilities



  • Define the company's multi-year commercial analytics / BI strategy and execution roadmap including definition of an enterprise data platform strategy, establish a reporting architecture and provide corresponding roadmaps, development of data controls for various data feeds, to ensure the integrity of data and resolving issues inhibiting the provision of timely and actionable insights.

  • Develop strong relationships with cross-functional and segment leaders to define the metrics & KPIs that drive results, enable our teams to leverage data to improve business performance and efficiency.

  • Increase the availability of meaningful information and improve decision making effectiveness and pace using self-service reporting and analytics tools and readily available business performance dashboards and scorecards using PowerBI and Tableau.

  • Drive training and enablement of organizational dashboard and report users

  • Identify opportunities for business optimization, whitespace opportunities, support pricing analysis and decision-making.

  • Drive the creation of data-driven forecasts through analytical and modeling support to inform market sizing, opportunity assessments, and strengthen forecasting ability.

  • Manage and develop industry and competitive intelligence, macroeconomic and industry, market performance, customer intelligence and segmentation activities across business functions. Provides relevant communication, ad-hoc research, and analyses as well as early warnings and long-term trends to support the positioning strategies.



  • Become an expert on Safety, Security, and Compliance business process and data flow; proactively make recommendations for process, tool, or data flow changes to produce information in the most efficient way possible, while considering end to end ramifications.

  • Leverage Ascend’s centralized data analytics team as needed to build models, analyze data, create reports, generate insights, make specific and actionable recommendations, and influence business. decisions. You must be comfortable working with imperfect data and have an iterative mentality – start with the 80% solution and improve over time.

  • Institute a data governance program and develop efficient solutions to detect and cleanse data of anomalies to ensure high quality output and reliable insights.


Skills and Abilities



  • Track record of successfully driving change and delivering results in ambiguous environments and working in a high performing matrixed organization.

  • Excellent ability to interpret or correlate an extensive variety of information and decompose complex analytical and technical problems and translate them into simple business solutions to be presented to key stakeholders.

  • Excellent communications skills and abilities working with all corporate levels including presenting to executive stakeholders.

  • Strong working knowledge and experience with sales, marketing, and operational strategy development and building associated frameworks/tools/models.

  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, environment with multiple priorities that require strong project management and decision-making capabilities.

  • Ability to think conceptually, handle ambiguity, solve complex problems and make thoughtful recommendations.


Education & Experience: 



  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.

  • 7+ years of industry experience in leading or serving on teams involved with the business analytics/insights generation/forecasting function, including a successful history of collaborating with senior and executive leadership teams on cross-functional projects and initiatives.

  • 3+ years of experience in data analytics using data warehouses and visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI; CRM experience, preferably with Microsoft Dynamics 365, strongly preferred.

  • In-depth understanding of data profiling, statistical analysis, and data modeling concepts

  • Experience with exploratory data analysis, prototyping, testing hypotheses, performing root cause analyses, modeling business processes, defining metrics, and measuring business performance.

  • Experience with data storage and big data processing; working knowledge of SQL and understanding of Management Information Systems.

  • Experience working in Agile development environment and must be able to multi-task and prioritize in accordance with changing priorities and deadlines.
