Position Description

The Commercial Analyst position is responsible for supporting the commercial team with analysis, marketing, sales, account management and business development. Duties include but are not limited to the following:

•Provide commercial, financial, market and commodity analysis of existing business and new business opportunities to the account managers, regional management and senior management as requested
•Assist the account managers with monitoring results as it relates to financial budgets, revenue, earnings, liquid volume and bulk tonnage
•Generate revenue, liquid volume, bulk tonnage and other reports as needed (such as top revenues by customer, etc.) and analyze these reports for trends throughout the year
•Analyze business units or specific terminals sites to identify levels of profitability for existing and new business while communicating the information with the commercial team
•Develop financial models for expansion capital projects, working closely with the appropriate account manager, terminal manager and the engineering manager to obtain the needed information to develop and analyze the business opportunity
•Develop business justification write-ups for expansion capital projects, working closely with the appropriate account manager, terminal manager EHS manager and the engineering manager to obtain the needed information and submit to senior management for approval
•Maintain the regional expansion capital project listing and distribute an updated expansion capital project list prior to the weekly regional commercial priority calls
•Work closely with the account managers and terminal managers to quantify areas where capital projects (increased efficiencies, new equipment, etc.) can be justified based on cost savings
•Participate in weekly regional commercial priority calls and provide status updates on expansion capital projects
•Work with account managers to investigate new customers for risk and credit worthiness while monitoring accounts receivables for potential credit issues with existing accounts
•Develop presentations as may be needed for reports, Quarterly Business Reviews or other required meetings
Position Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Minimum experience, skills, knowledge, certifications, licenses, competencies, working conditions:
Experience / specific knowledge:
•Basic knowledge of financial structure, ability to work with spreadsheets, proficient in Microsoft Office and other business applications
•Basic knowledge of the liquid, bulk or break-bulk handling, storage and logistics industry is not required but is a benefit

Certifications, licenses, registrations:
•Valid Driver's license

Competencies, skills, and abilities:
•Must possess strong organizational skills and pay close attention to detail
•Excellent communication and presentation skills, verbal and written
•Must be able to clearly present ideas, proposals and results to business segment leaders and to customers
•Advanced proficiency level with Microsoft applications, including but not limited to Outlook, Word and Excel for the purpose of word processing, spreadsheets analysis and financial modeling
•Strong analytical skills and logical thought processes with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues/problems including but not limited to complex economic / financial models
•Ability to organize and prioritize daily work and maintain strict confidentiality
•Must be able to successfully and simultaneously manage multiple tasks
•Ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), focus attention on details, follow work rules, and adhere to required work schedules
•Ability to work in a regulated or competitive environment that may include handling of sensitive company and customer information
•Solid leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to lead ad-hoc teams with varying disciplines, backgrounds and experience levels
•Maintain a regular, dependable attendance record and a high level of personal performance
•Be able to deal with a wide variety of people with tack, courtesy and professionalism
•Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers
•Successful completion of background checks and post offer/random drug screens.

Working conditions:
•Basic office environment.
•Minimal travel will be required specifically to regional terminals
•Must be willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed and required

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum requirements and any additional preferred education or training:
•Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Economics or a related field is required
•An MBA is not required but is a benefit.
