Job Description:

2nd Shift


3PM – 11PM – Monday – Friday  with weekly OT opportunities and Monthly Weekend work.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Other duties may be assigned.

Abide by, enforce and participate in the implementation and ongoing oversight of all company safety standards and regulations.

Maintain, repair, assemble and build equipment, machinery, electrical or electronic components, and physical structures.

Disassemble, assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment.

Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine/equipment and/or electronic malfunctions or defects in physical structures or electrical control panels, and ensure the safety and compatibility of system/machinery/equipment/processes. Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following standard procedures.

Perform preventative maintenance and/or maintain equipment/machinery and physical structures. Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery. Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, or straightedges. Repair or replace defective equipment/machine parts, or physical structures using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment

Diagnose mechanical and/or electrical problems and determine how best to correct them, checking blueprints, electrical schematics, repair manuals, internet resources, or parts catalogs, as necessary. Determine the steps necessary to assess an electrical or mechanical situation using testing devices, blueprints, manuals and maps.

Document actions, testing results, observations, final diagnosis of the situation and steps taken to resolve issues for each job or situation

Perform work that may involve pipe fitting; boiler making; insulating; welding; machining; carpentry; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment; and repairing fixtures, buildings, floors, or stairs.

Design and fabricate machine guards and other similar devices as needed.

Maintain accurate records on work requests and completion, type and cost of maintenance or repair work, and other similar records.

Maintain equipment used to ensure it is in good condition and can operate or be used safely; report any issues to immediate supervisor

Communicate with supervisor and relevant personnel on work progress, status, and any unusual circumstances or issues.

Train junior or new associates in appropriate safety procedures, work instructions and quality standards.

Actively contribute to continuous process improvement.

Participate in training and continuous learning opportunities; meet training and/or certification requirements of the job, department, product or area as designated/defined in work instructions and quality standards.

Education/Experience:
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical or crafts school, and
over 2 years of technical experience with electromechanical equipment and systems; or any combination of education, experience and training.

Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in or from situations encountered in the job in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:
No specific requirements

Certificates and Licenses:
Valid driver’s license and Certification for the operation of industrial trucks required. Level I PLC programming certification preferred.
Other Qualifications:
This position requires specific knowledge in the following areas to be successful:
• Understanding of PLC
• Knowledge of the fundamentals of electricity, both AC and DC, and Arc Flash Hazards.
• Basic knowledge electrical and electronic testing equipment.
• Knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction or repair of buildings or other structures.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud due to the operation of industrial equipment and machinery.

This job will be performed under the environmental factors given below:

The primary work location for this job is on the production floor which is not climate controlled, has operating industrial machinery and equipment and airborne particles (cotton dust/foam).

This job may require travel and flexibility for ‘on call’ support or varied schedule needs. It requires occasional travel by car/air, including overnight stays.
The work environment characteristics described above necessitates the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses/goggles, gloves, closed shoes, respirator and other protective equipment as specified by OSHA and other federal/state regulations. The employee must wear the prescribed personal protective equipment at all times while performing the duties of this job.
