Job Specification:
Ability to work with a wide range of individuals with varying needs.Excellent Communication skills (verbally and written) with all levels of personnel, internal and external, to the company.Ability to handle physical aspects of the job, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking for periods of time.At least High school diploma, GED, or equivalentMust be at least 18 years of age or older.Must pass MVR screening to operate company vehicles.Must complete required background checks prior to employment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Assesses the safety of mobility equipment (e.g., wheelchair, walker, crutches, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that appropriate safety conditions exist for the individual and staff. Assists individuals with support needs during transport, safe ingress, and egress from vehicles, including both emergency situations and regular transportation to and from their pickup location and their destination. Cleans assigned vehicles, both interior/exterior, for the purpose of maintaining the appearance, sanitation, and safety of the vehicle. Monitors medical conditions (e.g., seizures, emergencies, etc.) of passengers for the purpose of maintaining their safety. Prepares documentation (e.g., routes, transportation counts, documents, absentees, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information. Provide safe and secure transportation for everyone in their assigned vehicle. Operate equipment, including wheelchair lifts, tie-downs, seat belts, harnesses, and other adaptive equipment as necessary. Provide basic medical care and first aid as trained. Procedures and policies; contact local emergency services personnel as necessary. Attend in-service meetings and continuing education as assigned. Maintain order and discipline on vehicle as required; monitor passenger activities and assure compliance with vehicle safety procedures.
Other Job Functions:
Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Applicants must possess a clean driving record, pass all local and state background checks, and be comfortable and confident in driving vehicles ranging from a 15-passenger van to a passenger vehicle. Patience, kindness, and a strong desire to help others is a huge plus.
