Role Overview:

Edelman is looking for a dynamic Account Supervisor to join our Brand Team in Los Angeles, although we're also open to this person sitting in San Francisco, Sacramento, Portland, Seattle, Austin, Chicago, or New York. This role will be dedicated to a national retail account with a high focus on consumer media relations and story development for a large retailer in the pet care space. The role will require leading a passionate team, overseeing multiple workstreams, and supporting key client campaigns and events including work with executive, celebrity, influencer, brand, and vendor partners. You will help to lead an integrated - and often multi-office - team with an ability to manage moving parts and keep deliverables on track.

The ideal candidate is highly proficient and enthusiastic about all aspects of media relations, with the ability to find, develop and tell a strong and engaging story that hooks media - and consumer - interest on behalf of our clients. You will be a strong writer, trend spotter and creative brainstormer who isn't afraid to share ideas and opinions, and you will also be an energetic team player who knows how to link arms and work across practices and disciplines to develop great work together (and have some fun and laughs along the way!). Solid experience working with consumer brands or in the retail industry is a plus!

Responsibilities:


    • The Account Supervisor (AS) is responsible for the supervision of account work performed by junior staff. You will demonstrate the ability to manage up, as well as manage across with peers and mentor account team members. You will learn Edelman's various communications processes/approaches, including public engagement, message workshops, master narrative assignments, brand engagement, media events and activations, social media campaigns and stakeholder mapping exercises and be able to support integrated teams in the execution of these processes for clients.


    • Demonstrates tactical and strategic knowledge of integrated Communications Marketing principles and skills

    • Applies key client information, including general business strategy, industry trends and issues, products/services, key opinion leaders, customers and competitors

    • Contributes to creation of Communications Marketing plans to meet client objectives

    • Leads out on client correspondence (e.g., daily updates, activity reports, etc.)

    • Manages multiple projects for multiple clients from concept to completion by anticipating challenges, troubleshooting problems, proposing solutions, offering client counsel, overseeing quality, and ensuring deadline and budget adherence

    • Acts as a bridge between Edelman teams supporting client work, ensuring there is continuity and consistency across channels and messaging.

    • Oversees financial and operational performance of account, ensuring quality work, deadline and budget adherence, and that plan creation and execution map to goals

    • Use relationships with third-party influencers and internal business partners to meet client needs

    • Supervise staff by mentoring, motivating, coaching, consistently providing feedback, holding them accountable and conducting their reviews

    • Participate in integrated agency meetings and represent earned point of view

    • Introduce clients to new capabilities, and display strong presentation skills during client presentations

    • Participates in cross-practice and cross-geographical teams to provide clients and prospects with the most compelling team and proposal

    • Takes responsibility for personal tactical growth and development using available resources, such as Edelman Learning Institute, on-the-job training and mentoring

    • Effectively and consistently manages strengths and weaknesses of self and others; enables self and others to bring the best of their skills and talents to work; is consistently ambitious in setting and achieving goals

    • Demonstrates the ability to write, edit and proofread to create high quality internal and external, channel-appropriate communications content

    • Demonstrates research abilities to support client programs and understands research techniques to assist with various Edelman consulting processes, including analysis of media coverage and online conversation (volume and tone) and identification and categorization of various stakeholders, including organizations and individuals to be engaged by clients

    • Coordinates and helps plan global/multi-national media outreach programs including tours, events, conferences, interviews and new media outreach

    • Demonstrates practical understanding of visual communications, desktop multimedia, social media and the digital landscape and how to incorporate these into client programs

    • Communicates effectively with team members across specialty practices, cultures and time-zones

Basic Qualifications:


    • At least 4 years of relevant experience in Communications Marketing and/or related fields

    • A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

Preferred Qualifications:


    • Experience effectively managing multiple sizable accounts (including financials) and serving as the daily client contact simultaneously.

    • Superior written and verbal communications skills along with the proven ability to consistently make sound judgments and effectively motivate and manage teams.

    • Clear understanding of the clients' businesses and their missions, as well as their key stakeholders: consumers, employees, investors, regulators, media, vendors, partners, other businesses/organizations, etc.

    • Demonstrated ability to help develop communication programming and plans, implement integrated tactics and impart knowledge to junior account team members

    • Able to perform well under pressure and be a team player

    • Strong research, writing and editing skills, as well as the ability to interact with clients professionally and maintain relationships with media members

    • Understanding of paid and owned campaigns on social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn

$67,000 - $94,000 a year

An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of DJEH's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, a Paid Time Off policy, and region-specific benefits.
