Your Team & Role

As a Lead – Dev Ops Engineer in the Prudential Chief Data Office (CDO) organization, you will partner with product owners, designers, engineers and delivery professionals to manage, improve and optimize the Prudential enterprise Data Governance suite of technology products & solutions.  You will produce DevOps solutions that enable us to deploy innovative products, services, and experiences to delight our customers! In addition to advanced technical expertise and experience you will bring excellent problem solving, communication and teamwork skills, along with agile ways of working, strong business insight, an inclusive leadership attitude and a continuous learning focus to all that you do.    


  • Implement a best-in-class operational support model for the suite of enterprise data governance tools in place for Prudential which includes the enterprise data catalog tool, metadata management tool, master data management tool, and data quality profiling tool.

  • Design/support leadership vision for Operational technical capabilities for the end-to-end automation of data governance, data quality, and master data management strategies including considerations for incorporation of best practices, workflow automation, scalable & performant solutions, incorporation of adherence to data privacy & compliance requirements, and support for AI/ML capabilities.

  • Establish operational run-book for all existing enterprise data services and establish process for monitoring the run-book progress, verifying successful execution of data processes, conformance to SLAs, and handling of failures or delays.  Enterprise data services to be contained in the run-book include scheduled scanning processes running against target sources, data movement/onboarding processes to facilitate user access to the data, scheduled data quality profiling jobs against target sources, data ingestion processes for customer master data management processes, & processes to publish data to the enterprise data marketplace. 

  • Forward-thinking & planning for continual extension of Operational processes as additional new capabilities are enabled.

  • Coordinate with underlying infrastructure and corporate service teams on their support level to the enterprise data team’s tools, including SLAs, communication vehicles, outage handling processes, version upgrade management, etc.

  • Manage service-levels provided by the enterprise data team to all Prudential groups utilizing the enterprise data tools;  includes the original establishment of the SLAs (in coordination with underlying support groups), as well as the ongoing monitoring of service levels, and progressively improving the service levels over time.  

  • Implement automated process & technical solution for capturing system-level data in order to publish operational KPIs to establish service-level baseline as well as to demonstrate improved service levels over time.  Includes the implementation of associated KPI visualization dashboards for Prudential leadership consumption.

  • Coordinate with Global Technology infrastructure teams to operationalize application monitoring & alerting capabilities.

  • Build out the end-to-end support process for handling tool outages (planned & unplanned) including engagement of all required support teams, establishment of proper severity level for an outage, execution of all user communications, & engagement of the enterprise incident manage team for Sev-1 situations.

  • Perform product/tool version management by coordinating with all of the product vendors on their product version roadmaps & coordinating the Prudential implementation of version upgrades with the Data Governance team, full user community, as well as with the underlying support groups.    

  • Innovating, designing, and building DevOps solutions for the enterprise data management team. Drive continuous quality by integrating code quality, security, and automated testing capabilities; remove technical impediments.

  • Introduce DevOps standard methodologies and automation that will inspire change and drive DevOps transformation.  

  • Coordinate the installation of new Data Governance products/tooling with the underlying infrastructure provisioning & support group(s).

  • Collaborate with product owners in understanding needs and defining features stories, tech leads in defining technical design and other team members to understand the system end-to-end and deliver robust solutions that bring about business impact and support the goals. 

  • Manages the prioritization, coordination, and implementation of bug fixes & small enhancements as required for the successful Operations of the enterprise data tools.

  • Ensures that production deliverables being implemented are stable, scalable, and supportable via Data Run Operations, and follow and well-defined handoff process.

  • Ensures the Data Operations function produces quality artifacts pertinent to Runbooks & Playbooks in support of the enterprise data assets.

  • Develop corporate platform standards based on cost, capability, and capacity requirement to drive business value; document solutions to support the adoption of developed solutions 

  • Design, implement, and ensure ongoing support for adherence to all regulatory/compliance data security & privacy controls required across the end-to-end Data Governance tools – including PII, CCPA, CPRA, GDPR, and other privacy regulations.

  • Bring a strong understanding of relevant and emerging technologies, provide input and coach team members and embed learning and innovation in the day-to-day.   

  • Work on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables.  

  • Use programming languages including but not limited to Python, Java, Node, Groovy, Shell/Power Scripting. 

The Skills & Expertise You Bring 


  • Bachelor of Computer Science or Engineering or experience in related fields  

  • Enterprise-level implementation of Data Governance/Enterprise Data Catalog tool and integration with diverse corporate data sources on numerous platforms

  • Ability to coach others with minimum guidance and effectively leverage diverse ideas, experiences, thoughts and perspectives to the benefit of the organization    

  • Experience with agile development methodologies and Test-Driven Development (TDD)  

  • Experience with problem & incident management, ITSM, change advisory boards, SLAs, KPIs, & vendor management

  • Cloud experience including the data governance tools as well as hosting of source systems/data sources

  • Experience coordinating diverse set of technical resources across multiple teams, including coordination of work with off-shore resources as needed

  • Knowledge of enterprise data governance/data management, & insurance/financial services business concepts that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business  

  • Master Data Management implementation & integration (support & coordination capacity)

  • Coordination/implementation of required data privacy regulations through the enterprise data governance tool suite


  • Implementation of all required corporate IT system and data controls & implementation of best practices

  • Ability to learn new skills and knowledge on an on-going basis through self-initiative and tackling challenges  

  • Identify and remove complex technical impediments that may arise within the team

  • Excellent problem solving, communication and collaboration skills 

Advanced experience and/or expertise in the several of the following: 



  • Dev Ops Tools & Practices: DevOps automation tools, practices & capabilities, continuous integration & continuous delivery


  • DevOps Platform: Industry standard CI/CD solutions, platforms and tools (Atlassian, Sonar, Artifactory, CheckMarx) to support lifecycle.  Experience/knowledge in build frameworks like Maven, Gradle, Nuget, NPM

  •   Knowledge of infrastructure fundamentals of Linux/Unix operating systems, database, network and TCP/IP, and common communication protocols  


  • Programming Languages: Python, Java, Node, Groovy, Shell/Power Scripting 


  • Frameworks: Ansible, CloudFormation, Terraform​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ 


  • Infrastructure fundamentals 


    • Linux / UNIX Operating Systems: File Permissions, Network Configuration, Services, Process Manipulation  


    • Database Fundamentals: Schemas, Tables, Permissions, SQL  


    • Networking, TCP/IP and other common Communication Protocols: OSI Model, 3 Way Handshake, Stateful vs Stateless, Proxy Firewall  


    • Containers: Docker, Kubernetes  


    • Operationalization & Monitoring: ITIL, Change Incident, Problem management, industry standard tooling




  • Application Programming Interfaces (API): Consumption & Development 


  • Test/Quality capabilities & methodologies (functional & nonfunctional) and associated tooling including quality automation 


  • Infrastructure & Cloud Security best practices including DevSecOps 


  • Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC): Development and Design Fundamentals including SDLC and coding standards  


  • Cloud Computing: Understanding and knowledge (of 1 or more): AWS, Azure or GCP 

Preferred Qualifications  


  • Experience with Informatica’s Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC), Informatica Axon, Informatica IDQ, Informatica CDQ, & Informatica Cloud Data Governance and Catalog (CDGC)

  • Experience with AWS enterprise data platform tools such as Redshift & S3

  • Experience working as a team player in a global role/enterprise level

  • Proactive results-oriented problem solver with great attention to detail

  • Automate unit/integration test cases, solve problems, & add value with automation

  • Finance/Insurance industry experience is a plus not a must

The salary range for this role is from $129,900.00 to $193,300.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
