Job Summary:
The Director, Sales and Service will manage the sales process for AMETEK's Compliance Test Solutions (CTS) offerings to the American markets. He/she will lead our employees and channel partners to drive customer satisfaction and to grow the Business Unit's sales in the region to strengthen our position as a global leader.
The candidate will work directly with the Director Global Sales & Service and CTS leadership staff to establish and implement strategic direction for the region. He/she will be directly responsible for managing all aspects of the business including developing and managing partnerships with customers, channel partners and employees. The candidate will also provide and be accountable for forecasts and will maintain the region's opportunity funnel.
Key Responsibilities:
Primary Functions
Manages, directs, and executes sales efforts in the assigned territory
Develops and implements sales strategies and tactics in concert with Company plans, goals and policies
Oversees recruiting, developing and management of channel partners in the territory to ensure their business plans are aligned with and remain focused on AMETEK's business objectives
Communicates with customers at all levels, and communicates the needs of customers to the Company
Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of staff and Company information
Business Strategy
Develops and drives a team that provides best-in-class sales and support
Develops and executes strategies for sustainable sales growth
Identifies opportunities through market intelligence to increase sales by identifying untapped needs for new applications and find new ways to maximize profitability from each step of the value chain
Develops and executes a plan to increase penetration in the region and become the preferred vendor in the local markets
Performance, Metrics & Reporting
Establishes sales objectives by setting monthly, quarterly and annual quotas (regional, employee and distributor level)
Develops territory forecasts and maintains an opportunity funnel for the business
Conducts research, compiles data and prepares reports for the Business Unit's leadership staff
Monitors and analyzes historical data to determine order frequency, product trends and product life cycles
Team Leadership
Provides leadership direction and training to facilitate high performance, team-based execution of the strategic business development plan
Sets the direction, motivates people to get there, gets people through tough times, celebrates successes, and meets the numbers
Leads, develops and cascades clearly defined goals and objectives for team members operating from multiple facilities
Uses a thoughtful communication plan, employing multiple methods, or indirect approaches, such as influential people to align people or groups
People Management & Employee Development
Supervises, leads, motivates, directs, coordinates and guides employees (either direct or support) and channel partners in work related to the territory responsibilities
Measures employee performance and reports to the employee and company (performance evaluations)
Ensures consistency in personnel policy administration across the Regional sales team
Accountability, Planning & Reporting
Is responsible for the collective sale of products and services in assigned territory
Meets or exceeds established quotas in the region
Develops regional sales plans and contributes to global sales plans
Prepares, monitors and works within a budget
Develops and maintains a knowledge of products, features, benefits and applications.
Compiles routine reports including status on each channel partner's performance, plans and sales tactics
Communicates to the company the needs of the regional sales organization to meet company objectives
Communicates to the company the business climate of the assigned territory
Customer Relations
Is responsible for customer and channel partner relations in the assigned territory
Conducts sales calls and travels to customer sites as required by channels and the market opportunities
Understands customer needs and applications and maps AMETEK's solutions to the need
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Minimum 10 years of professional experience with at least 3 years as a sales manager with direct reports in the Test and Measurement industry
Experience in working with channel partners (non-stocking distributors) in the Region
Successful track record in managing in-house and field sales personnel, developing and executing growth strategies and tactical sales plans including quotas and account objectives
Extensive travel; at least 50% will be required
Desired Qualifications:
Demonstrated success in developing new business with major industrial and/or automotive customers
Demonstrated knowledge of the American market, business practices and culture
Experience leading a diverse and distributed sales team responsible for direct and channel sales
