Job Description:

The Manitowoc Company, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Tax intern to support Manitowoc’s Tax Department with various hands-on projects. This is a chance to learn the transactional tax world including sales and use tax and exemption certificate management. 

This position reports to the Transactional Tax Manager at Manitowoc’s Global Headquarters, in Milwaukee, WI. 

You will gain valuable exposure to business software systems; Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Business Information (BI) Reporting, and sales tax software. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Perform detailed data analytics with various large datasets to strengthen overall tax governance.


• Manage tax exemption certificate campaigns.


• Assist with tax exemption certificate maintenance within Vertex (sales tax software)


• Research sales tax treatment of purchases and provide applicable tax exemption certificates to vendors.


• Review tax treatment of various products by state. 


• Identify and assist the implementation of process improvement ideas.


• Collaborate with internal and external personnel regarding sales and use tax issues efficiently and accurately.

Qualifications:

• Pursuing Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance


• No previous tax experience necessary


• Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Excel spreadsheet management


• Strong verbal and written communication skills


• Strong sense of professionalism


• Ability to work with cross-functional teams


• Normal office environment
