Coordinator, Environmental Health and Safety - Full Time, Days (Tustin)

The Coordinator, Environmental Health and Safety is responsible for assisting and providing a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and staff through management of safety and emergency plans. Ensures Safety and Emergency Management Plans are in accordance with state, federal and accrediting bodies. Coordinates individual and committee efforts and informs Leadership and Governing Body of important safety/emergency management issues. Assist the Emergency Manager and coordinate with the with local, county and state planning activities to include preparedness, mitigation and education. Assist with drills and exercises regarding Safety and Emergency Management. Conducts employee education on related programs and evaluation of all Safety/Emergency Management programs. Identifying safety hazards in patient and non-patient care environments, maintains and record findings, and reports findings to the appropriate parties.
Job Responsibilities/Duties
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Bachelors Degree preferred.
Minimum Experience: Two (2) years previous Healthcare Safety and Emergency Management experience required. Bilingual skills preferred. Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English. Ability to multitask and prioritize to meet timelines. Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job. Ability to use sound reasoning and judgment to resolve issues. Ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization. Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
Req. Certification/Licensure: Valid driver's license. Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only) required. Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP) or Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional (CHEP) preferred.
