The OSS is seeking to hire a part-time on-call (PTOC) Jumpmaster/Freefall Instructor Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide support to various OSS contracts. The SME will complete external reviews, analysis and evaluation of programs’ change management and transition processes to ensure future operational success. The Safety Management Approach will be utilized throughout the review, analysis, evaluation, and recommendation of work performed. 

Site visits and some travel will be required and may be up to five days per visit.  SME will conduct reviews and evaluations of trainers, operations, and briefings. SME will provide progress reports periodically.  Other reports will include Gap Analysis reports and final reports/closeout.

Primary Subject Matter Expert – Experience Required:


  • Experience and technical knowledge of parachute system performance, training, and operations in a high consequence mission context.

  • Experience and technical knowledge in transitioning a high-consequence mission operational group successfully through a change of parachute system and the accompanying elements of transitioning the program (e.g., training, plans, personnel, loft, operations, safety, leadership) through the change.

  • Experience and knowledge of developing and implementing change management plans and transition plans in a high-consequence mission context.

Requirements:


  • Ten (10) years of experience in either civilian or military jump operations.

  • Five (5) years of experience as an operational parachute systems instructor/trainer.

  • Five (5) years of experience as a rigger and loft operations.

  • Five (5) years of experience in high-consequence mission operational context leadership in either civilian or military jump operations.

Working Conditions:


  • Outdoors

  • Must able to walk two miles in rugged terrain for observation

  • Field operations may take place in inclement weather

  • Exposure to loud noise and or extreme heat/cold

  • Must be able to lift 20+ pounds

  • Travel is required
