Job Description:

Community Leadership Academy, an award-winning charter school is now hiring a passionate and effective Art teacher to join a team of dedicated professionals providing high-quality education to at-risk students. Looking for teachers committed to being change agents in education reform!

The K-5 Art Instructor will help students as both individuals and groups, will foster an appreciation of art and provide a joyful and supportive learning environment for art development. Candidates should be energetic and progressive minded, with a willingness to work collaboratively with grade level teams.

Job responsibilities include:

• - Planning of unit lessons and curriculum that aligns with the Colorado State Standards and Core Knowledge Curriculum


• - Instruction of elementary school art classes (grades K-5) with enthusiasm, creativity, and sensitivity to student learning styles.


• - Utilize technology for instructing students, maintaining records, communicating information to parents, and promoting student and music program achievements


• - Classroom management, utilizing a school wide positive behavior support model


• - Commitment to professional growth through participation in professional learning communities and development opportunities 

Preferred Skills & Characteristics:

• - Thorough understanding of the curricular elements of Elementary art education


•  - Applicants should possess a love of art, teaching, and children as well as the desire to nurture and shape the lives of young artists.


• - Appreciation of the developmental and age characteristics of the students in each grade


• - A passion for teaching Elementary school children and helping them to achieve their fullest potential

Requirements:      

• 36 credit hours in Art or valid Colorado teaching license with Art endorsement.


• Specific knowledge of subject assigned;


• Strong written and oral communication skills;


• Previous teaching experience preferred or other work with children.
