Job Description
Position Description: WCC Peer Consultant
• Work one on one with students on every aspect of the writing process
• Provide support service at all levels of writing competency, including
prewriting, drafting, revising, organization, grammar, citation, and style
• Help with the development of handouts and workshops
• Attend tutor training and other professional development activities
• Assist senior staff with administrative tasks and special projects as needed
• Support colleagues in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the center
• Maintain the confidentiality of clients and services
Qualifications
A Peer Consultant must:
• Be a Stevens student, undergrad or grad, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Have a sincere desire to help all students with their writing
• Demonstrate significant writing ability
• Possess advanced interpersonal skills
• Be available to work a minimum of 6 hours a week
• Be available for training during the week before fall/spring semester begins
• Be trustworthy, reliable, and detail oriented
Your application must include
1. A 300-500 word letter reflecting in detail why you wish to work in the Writing and Communications Center.
2. Resume
3. A five-page sample of your academic writing
4. Two letters of reference

This position is for Stevens students currently enrolled. Must have at least 6 credits. This is a part-time hourly position.
