What You Will Do

The Director-Intermediary Distribution is responsible for growing, managing, and retaining all intermediary sales activities within the region of California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii. The Director will promote and wholesale Great Lakes Advisors SMA/UMA accounts through the Wire Houses, Independent BD’s, RIA, and Bank Channels. The Director will also develop annual business plans and marketing strategies to maximize sales and retain assets.


  • Quickly become a subject matter expert on all GLA products and services.

  • Develop annual business plans and strategies to maximize sales and retain assets.

  • Manage all retail sales within the region and meet or exceed all sales objectives.

  • Develop prospecting list and maintain current advisor relationships.

  • Thorough knowledge of Wire House, Independent BD’s, RIA’s, and Bank Channel proprietary platforms.

  • Present at seminars and training sessions; attend company, industry, and other related events as directed.

  • Work with key strategic partners to grow brand recognition and gather assets.

  • Maintains an extensive knowledge of the firm and industry, including all products and trends.

  • Work with internal sources to research, analyze, and manage territory.

  • Manage individual travel and expense budget.

  • Schedule meetings efficiently and effectively.

  • Maintain and report all sales activities in Salesforce CRM.   

Qualifications


  • Bachelors degree is required.

  • NASD Series 63, 65, and 7 required.

  • CIMA or CFA highly recommended.

  • 5-10 years of industry sales experience including a minimum of 5 years of hybrid/external sales in region.

  • Strong relationships in all distribution channels. In particular, Morgan Stanley, BOA-Merrill, and Independent BD’s, RIA’s, and Bank Channels using the Schwab, Pershing/Lockwood, and Envestnet UMA platforms.

  • Demonstrates leadership qualities, is self-directed, highly motivated, and a team player.

  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills required. Excellent personal skills a must.

  • Experience in Salesforce (Classic/Lightning), Seismic, and Excel preferred.

  • Flexibility and ability to travel the region extensively.
