The Process Engineer position will focus on improving and sustaining both current and new product quality, practices and standards. The position will provide support for Heat Treat, Hydro-testing, Cut-off and other various departments within the facility. The position will strive to reduce the cost of methods and materials through process optimization/capability. The position will also collaborate with department managers, process communities or the industrialization team concerning proposed and/or completed improvements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Improve downstream quality concerns and resolve multi-discipline problems.
Maintain and improve standard operating procedures, work instructions, JIBs, etc.
Reduce variation of key process indicators.
Lead the Process Improvement Team(s), if applicable.
Benchmark the existing and evaluate new technologies, processes and materials.
Isolate and reduce sources of variation and resolve production and quality issues through the use of Manufacturing Process Control and/or advanced problem-solving techniques, i.e. Design of Experiments, process capability, SPC and FMEA.
Implement root cause analysis and corrective action of non-conformances to mitigate rework, reduce cost and improve quality.
Validate existing knowledge, conduct training and re-training of operators.
Build technical capabilities, necessary to execute Vallourec Star strategy by identifying and presenting Capital Expenditure Projects.
Promote effective communication vertically and horizontally within the organization.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE:

Ability to apply manufacturing process control techniques and/or lean manufacturing experience.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing within the organization.
Demonstrate project management skills for process improvement and/or product development.
Demonstrate strong decision-making skills based on analytical approach to problem solving, including application of statistical techniques.
Knowledge of basic metallurgy and the heat treatment of steel.
Appropriate communication via radio, telephone and/or in person.
Maintain organization and cleanliness of work area.
Adheres to safety and security procedures.
Reports potentially unsafe conditions.
Uses equipment and materials properly.
All other tasks assigned by shift lead, supervisor and/or manager.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Metallurgy, Material Science or Industrial Engineering.
5 years of experience in the pipe/steel manufacturing industry is preferred.
