Job Summary: 


Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS), is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the project management and business services fields as part of our staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.  AIS has an established history of contributing to the success of our customer’s mission.


Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance the missions of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, TN.  Though employed by AIS, the employee will take day-to-day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratory. Pay, benefits, Human Resource, and Employment Management functions are provided by AIS.


Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.


Job Responsibilities: 




  • This position will provide Construction Project support overseeing heavy civil construction with mass excavation, fine excavation around existing structures, landfill liner installation and welding, waterproofing, roofing, sheet pile installation, shotcrete, concrete cutting, concrete slab/wall/roof placement, concrete embeds, reinforcing steel, storm drains, backfill, site restoration, and minor electrical and HVAC.




  • Be an onsite presence during construction and document inspections of all activities for the Proton Power Upgrade RTBT Stub Construction project. Observations/Inspections will be focused on the following items:




    • Compliance with construction drawings and specifications, and QA oversight of subcontractor’s quality control activities




    • Safety compliance with OSHA and ORNL requirements




    • Compliance with TDEC and ORNL environmental regulations




    • Progress monitoring towards schedule milestones




    • Identification of potential changes to contract scope






  • Coordination of requests for information, excavation/penetration permits, hot work permits, and submittals.




  •  Witness acceptance testing as required in specs (e.g., pressure tests, concrete tests, load bank testing, commissioning), document, and transmit test reports to project record files.




  • Ensures subcontractor compliance with environment, safety, health, and quality program requirements.




 

 Minimum Qualification:




  •  Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction Management




  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in management of civil/utility/electrical/mechanical construction, inspections, testing and oversight, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.




  •  Pre-employment Drug Screen - External applicants selected for this position are required to successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.




  •  Medical Exam(s) - Job related pre-placement medical examinations may be required for this position.




  • This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. If determined as such, this position would be identified as a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require participation in an ongoing random drug testing program in addition to the pre-employment drug screen.
