Production Planning & Scheduling Manager - Supply Chain at Tekni-plex in Winston Salem, North Carolina

Summary


The Planning and Scheduling Manager will be based at our Winston Salem, NC facility and part of Tekni-Plex’s Integrated Performance Solutions business within the Consumer Products Division.  This position will report directly to the Director of Supply Chain and will work closely with the management team in Winston-Salem.  This individual will be responsible for managing a team of material planners and schedulers to ensure a smooth flow of production with minimal unplanned interruptions.  The Production Control Manager will be a key contributor to the monthly Sales and Operations Process and will be responsible for managing working capital levels to established targets and minimizing slow moving and/or obsolete inventory through robust scheduling and material planning processes. 


Essential Duties



  • Production planning guidance to the scheduling team to meet customer requirements while maintaining production schedule wheel and staying within inventory targets

  • Prepare capacity analysis, proactively identifies supply risks, and communicates to the Plant Manager and Director of Supply Chain

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop effective material planning/scheduling methodologies and best practices

  • Manage the day-to-day performance of the scheduling and procurement functions.

  • Manage employees, including their development, coaching and mentoring; conducting employee reviews and maintaining required department staffing

  • Improve and develop procurement and forecasting processes to minimize slow moving inventory risk

  • Customer interaction including periodic travel to customer sites and participation in customer calls

  • Work with a safety-first approach, develop ideas for continuous improvement, cost savings, and quality improvements.

  • Develop and utilize weekly/monthly metrics in areas such as schedule adherence, line change-overs, non-standard material usage, OTIF, and slow moving inventory levels.

  • Input and participation in Business Review Meetings

  • Additional projects and duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing requirements and planning

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proficient using MRP and scheduling software

  • Proficient using Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE



  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing operations experience is required

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field

  • Management experience in production management in a multi-step manufacturing process

  • Association of Supply Chain Management (ASCM) certification is a plus


LANGUAGE SKILLS


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write routine reports, business correspondence, and other material.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals or groups of managers or employees.


REASONING ABILITY


Ability to solve practical problems and deal professionally with a variety of variables in daily situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
