Join us as a Grant Financial Specialist - this is a financial accounting role supporting federal grant programs, performing financial desk audits for regulatory compliance, and distribution of funds to ensure program objectives are met.
The team is looking for candidates with high attention to detail, great customer service skills, and prior financial accounting or auditing experience working with financial statements, accounting, general ledger, budgets, and regulatory standards.
Office Location & Schedule: This position is assigned to our office located at 84th & O St, Lincoln, NE, with potential for up to three days telework contingent upon proper agency approvals.

Examples of Work
Supports the Grants Management onsite service center by serving as the financial expert for federal grant program(s) for internal stakeholders.
Supports the Grants Management help desk ticketing system by serving as the external grants management financial expert for Nebraska educational entities.
Assists program staff in administering grant funds by performing desk reviews of sub-recipient grant reimbursement requests and financial reports to ensure compliance with approved budgets and program regulations.
Manages submission and deadline requirements for grant reimbursements. Receives, reviews, and adjusts related to grant reimbursement requests, approves and prepares disbursements of funds, and maintains payment records and documentation.
Consults with and provides oversight and technical assistance to grant recipients (e.g., internal program staff, schools districts, educational service units and other sub-recipients).
Ensures compliance with federal guidance and regulations, Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), and fiscal components of the OMB Uniform Guidance by providing information and guidance on policies and procedures.
Assists with development and maintenance of grants management technologies, process controls, policies, and procedures.
Calculates grant allocations to sub-grantees based on federal program guidance and regulations.
Gathers, analyzes, and interprets financial data to assist with transaction details and historical assessments.
Reviews requests for funds and ensures supporting documentation is included and meets the requirements set forth by their respective funding sources.
Demonstrates commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
Working Conditions and Travel:
This position requires approximately 95% of work time spent in an office environment; the remainder is spent traveling or working in alternative sites such as off-site conferences, meetings, and Nebraska school districts. There is also approximately three to five days of overnight travel per year.
Qualifications / Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field (Accounting, Finance, etc.) and two years of experience related to the essential functions of the position. Any equivalent education and\or work experience may be substituted in order to meet the minimum qualifications of the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Accounting or related field. Prior experience in state and/or federal grant review and compliance. Certified Public Accountant.
