Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator at Vallourec in Muskogee, Oklahoma

Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Vallourec Star, a world-class manufacturer of high-quality seamless tubular products, is currently seeking an enthusiastic, hands-on EHS professional at our Muskogee facility.

Reporting to the off-site Manager of Environmental and Safety, the EHS Coordinator will be the local champion for all safety and environmental initiatives, including but not limited to ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and standards, promoting a proactive safety and environmental culture and locally administering a continuous improvement-based environmental and safety management system.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Act as the local expert in environmental and safety issues.


• Maintain records associated with environmental and safety regulations and standards and the company management system.


• Participate in investigations of safety and environmental-related incidents.


• Advise local management regarding environmental and safety regulations, standards, and best practices.


• Collaborate with outside agencies as necessary.


• Compile and analyze data to provide reports to local and company management.


• Participate in the review and update of policies, procedures, and programs.


• Collect samples and conduct inspections to ensure compliance with environmental permits.


• Facilitate and arrange safety and environmental-related training for managers, supervisors, employees, and contractors.


• Evaluate the effectiveness of EHS policies and practices.


• Ensure requisitions are entered for supplies and review and approve invoices for services provided.


• Manage waste streams and provide recommendations for minimizing waste.


• Supervise on-site EHS Technicians.


• Coordinate third-party site security services.


• Ensure the integrity of the physical security of the plant site.


• Coordinate/Deliver the EHS portion of New Hire Orientation for new employees.


• Coordinate/Deliver Risk Aware Training for personnel at the Muskogee site.

 

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE:

• Extensive knowledge of environmental and safety regulations, standards, and best practices.


• Effective communication skills: the ability to interact with personnel at all levels of the organization with confidence, respect, and integrity.


• Ability to analyze information, solve problems, work in a team environment as well as on your own, prioritize tasks & projects, manage time effectively, and function effectively in stressful situations.


• Experience with SS, continuous improvement processes and/or ISO management systems is strongly preferred.


• Strong computer skills.


• Ability to give training and hold others' attention for an extended period.

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent required 


• Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental and/or Health/Safety field


• Experience with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001, Integrated Management Systems, and associated documentation and audit


• 3-5 years of EHS experience
