Cenovus is looking for a Senior Process Controls Engineer - Projects for our Lima, OH site. Reporting to the Process Controls Manager, this individual contributor will be responsible for driving Process Control develop, engineering design, implementation, commissioning and startup support for the entirety of the LRC capital project portfolio. As an experienced team member you will also help support advanced controls issues within the Area Business Team's throughout the refinery. You may also be asked to provide support for Advanced Controls, Alarm Management and Long Term DCS Migration planning.

What you'll do:


  • Ensure DCS Regulatory / Supervisory Controls, Operator Graphics, Alarm System, Process Historian, and PI are designed and implemented in accordance with LRC standards to maintain, optimize, and continue the safe operation of the refinery.

  • Key metrics include Budget and Schedule Adherence, PSM compliance, Alarm Performance, and Control Scheme Implementation.

  • Spectrum of decision-making within the Process Controls group will be supported by other Process Controls team members and Area Business Team members.

  • Have authority to approve documentation related to process controls in the area of assignment.

  • Position will also influence current designs and longer-term DCS migration decisions.

  • Level of problem problem-solving will vary with tenure in the position and maturity in the role.

  • Handle complex problem-solving skills to assist Operations and Process Engineering in diagnosing and developing solutions to refinery operational issues.


Who you are:

  • 25+ years in Oil and Gas Industry

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.

  • MS Office suite experience

  • Proficient technical skills and knowledge of refinery operations, process flows, coordination, and systems

Preferred

  • Master's degree, PMP Certification, or Professional Engineer License

  • Knowledge of job or industry-specific practices or processes; critical/unique skills/knowledge:

  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Familiar with P&IDs, loop diagrams, and field instrumentation devices

  • Experience with MOC and Hazop/LOPA requirements/participation

  • Loop Tuning Experience

  • Advanced Controls Experience

  • Experience directly applicable to the position: Knowledge and proficiency in Honeywell HPM and Experion C-300/SCADA configuration.

  • Experience with Experion HMI graphic design and configuration.

  • Lin & Associates ALTIUS experience would be considered an asset

  • DCS/SIS/PLC hardware and software maintenance, experience with Modbus communication protocol, SCADA & OPC Interfaces, familiarity with Hexagon PAS, familiarity with Honeywell PHD and OSI Soft PI.
