Summary


Reporting to the Associate Dean responsible for graduate programs, the Assistant Director is responsible for operations and processes related to the Executive Graduate Programs and full-time specialty programs. The Assistant Director is responsible for benchmarking and producing enrollment forecasts and identifying proposed frequency of course offerings/sections due to student demand, identifying new pipelines for graduate students, supporting application/admission and scholarship/GA processing, advising students, quality assurance, troubleshooting student issues, and providing graduation checks to ensure timely graduation. The Assistant Director works closely with the Associate Dean as well as the directors of executive graduate program and full-time specialty master's programs to support the implementation of recruitment and marketing plans.

Essential Functions

Student Recruitment:
Collaborate with the Graduate College, Graduate admissions team, Associate Director - Graduate Recruitment and Operations, specialty master's program directors, and Associate Dean - Graduate Programs and Faculty Affairs to develop and implement a comprehensive recruitment and yield strategy for the specialty master's programs in the Schmidthorst College of Business. Coordinates with the Assistant Director - MBA and Online Programs and the Associate Director- Graduate Recruitment and Operations. This data will be used to craft initiatives throughout the calendar year that will work to meet enrollment goals.

Program Promotion:
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to develop marketing materials and promotional campaigns to attract prospective specialty master's students. Represent the specialty master's program at recruitment events, conferences, and campus-wide initiatives.

Student Onboarding, Advising, and Academic Support:
Answer incoming, prospective students' questions about the Schmidthorst College of Business graduate programs including the executive graduate programs and specialty master's programs. Provide students with personalized guidance on degree requirements, university policies and procedures, graduate policies and procedures, class registration procedures, and academic and career goals, and resources for personal and professional development. Work collaboratively with students regarding registration and course enrollment to promote degree completion, student success, retention, recruitment and persistence goals. Provide feedback to the graduate program directors for course schedule needs in upcoming semesters based on student registration.

Problem-Solving Assistance:
Serve as a central point of contact for executive graduate program and specialty master's students seeking information or assistance with academic, financial, or personal matters. Provide referrals to relevant campus resources, such as counseling services, financial aid offices, and disability support services. Advocate for student needs and work to address systemic barriers to student success. Collaborate with Learning Commons, Non-traditional and Military Services, BGSU Online, International Programs and Partnerships, The Kuhlin Hub for Career Design and Connections, and other student support services/offices to ensure students are adequately supported.

Operational Support:
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to support the overall functioning of the executive graduate program and specialty master's programs. Serve as a liaison between students and program leadership to communicate student feedback and concerns. Collect and analyze data related to executive graduate program and specialty master's program student success, including retention rates, graduation rates, graduation and student satisfaction surveys. Supports the processing of all student graduation audits. Prepare an annual College-level master course schedule for executive graduate programs and specialty master's programs for reference and event planning purposes that summarizes all courses scheduled for each program across all cohorts, and share it with the Graduate College Dean, the Schmidthorst College of Business Dean, Associate Deans, and Department Chairs, as well as all faculty members involved with the programs.

Customer Service:
Provide support for executive graduate programs including ordering supplies and books for executive program courses, assisting graduate program directors with expense processing, and ordering and managing all catering orders for residency weekends and related events. Support graduate program directors and assist with processing routine admission decisions, GA contracts, out-of-state fee waivers, and scholarships.

Residency Weekends Support:
Adapt weekly work schedule to provide the day-to-day operations support for residency weekends (10-15 weekends per year). This includes supporting the set-up of the room for the specific residency class and activities, basic AV and IT support for printing and virtual meetings, management of catering , provision of residency weekend supplies.

Inclusion and Belonging:
Develop and implement initiatives to foster a sense of belonging among graduate students. Assist the executive graduate program and specialty master's program directors, Schmidthorst College of Business Communications and Events specialist, and the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs in planning program-level networking and engagement events, receptions for graduating students, and other student-focused events.
Assurance of Learning and Continuous Improvement:
Support the specialty master's program directors as they monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of their programs through data analysis, student feedback, and benchmarking against peer institutions, and implement and improvements to enhance program quality and outcomes.

Collaboration with Graduate Program Directors:
Support the executive graduate program and specialty master's program directors and other online graduate programs with benchmarking data, enrollment summaries, and future enrollment forecasts. Engage with program directors and the Associate Dean - Graduate Programs and Faculty Affairs in forecasting of course needs.

Minimum Qualifications

The following Degree is required:

  • Master's Degree. Degree must be conferred prior to application.

The following Experience is required:

  • 2 years of work experience in higher education specifically with student services and program administration

The following Experience is preferred:

  • Advising of graduate, non-traditional, online students
