The substitute nurse at Falk Laboratory School - a private, independent K-8 school affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh- is responsible for supporting the school's health office in the absence of the regular school nurse. This includes assessing the health needs of students through episodic care and first aid for ill and injured students, contacting parents as needed, and medication administration. The substitute nurse will follow emergency care plans and individual health plans, comply with the laws relating to student health, including parental and caregiver consent, provide health information and serve as a resource to parents, teachers, and staff, and identify health problems for referral for proper treatment. The substitute nurse may assist in state-mandated health screenings (i.e., vision, dental, hearing, etc.).
Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree preferred, RN licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required. Minimum of 2 years nursing experience required, with experience in pediatrics and/or a K-12 school setting preferred.
