Arthrex is actively seeking an Electrical Test Engineer II for the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering department. The selected candidate will support Design for Testing (DFT) and Production Testing and will be working alongside our Design, Software, Testing, Manufacturing Engineering & Operations departments. The candidate will be working closely with our Sr. II Test Electrical Engineer to support the continual development of our new products and testing systems used on Arthrex's Audio/Video, Resection and Dual Pump systems. The candidate will also be involved with troubleshooting, developing and improving on our existing and new production testing platforms. The selected candidate will require excellent organization, communications and analytical skills, with an emphasis on managing technical projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Define and release manufacturing assembly / test tools and equipment including technician training and developing Work Instructions.
Provide Electronic test plan development, using diagrams, schematics and block diagrams in support of production test processes.
Partner with Quality Engineering in support of Quality Management System (QMS) requirements involving medical device manufacturing / testing and ISO-13485.
Support new product development /design transfer by leading process development and validations by participating in DF(x) (Design for Manufacturing, Assembly & Test).
Drive automation to replace manual processes where economically feasible.
Support the design, development and test of new equipment including gathering user requirements, designing test equipment and electrical systems, developing equipment specifications, coordinating quotes and procurement of new equipment with vendors.
Support new product development & project management for electrical testing thru the V&V phase of the design process.
Develop and support a continuous improvement culture by utilizing lean principles to enhance quality, operational efficiency and cost.
Electronics testing and troubleshooting.
Collect, analyze and present data used to evaluate and perform root cause Investigations.
Support Quality System deliverables for internal testing platforms and programs.
Create and optimize test plans including production V&V protocols.
Perform and/or manage production V&V tests including results and conclusions.
Coordinate resource management and work with electrical, software engineering, and contract engineering resources as required.
Support development of budgets and timelines for projects.
Draft validation protocols and reports including Installation, Operational and Process Qualifications (IQ, OQ, PQ) for test equipment and testing electrical/mechanical processes.
Ensure data and documentation are consistently accurate and complete.
Some required domestic travel to other Arthrex facilities and support vendors may be required.
Education and Experience:
B.S. in Engineering required, preferably in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
Minimum of 2 Yrs. experience in Design and Development or Production environment.
Experience in medical device manufacturing or other health sciences industry preferred.
SAP, Minitab, SolidWorks experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
Intermediate CAD software skills for viewing, creating, and maintaining (mechanical and/or electrical) drawings a plus.
Ability to create simple PLC (Programable Logic Controller) programs (specific to automation roles only) a plus
Ability to draft process validation protocols, execute, analyze data, and write reports.
Proficiency in drafting and executing technical documentation, engineering study protocols and analyzing data.
Ability to communicate ideas, results, recommendations, and status effectively in oral and written forms.
Ability to apply SPC (Statistical Process Control) practices to validations a plus.
Project management experience a plus.
Strong understanding of electronic design (analog and digital), manufacturing and assembly.
Strong experience in signal processing, image processing, MATLAB experience a plus.
Proficient in electronics troubleshooting from component level through system level.
Strong knowledge of electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, waveform analyzers, signal generators, multimeters, and typical lab equipment).
Knowledge of electronic design tools (schematic capture, PCB layout, simulation tools), preferably Altium a plus.
Understanding of digital circuits and implementation including programmable components (e.g. FPGAs).
Working knowledge of medical device electrical safety, standards a plus.
Knowledge of video distribution and fiber experience preferred.
Knowledgeable of FDA and ISO guidelines for the development of medical devices preferred.
Strong communication skills and accountability to project deliverable timing.
Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:
Knowledge of oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, logic analyzers, waveform analyzers, electrical testing equipment, PC and instrumentation. Bench top testing, troubleshooting and rework with typical lab equipment.
