Position Title: Procurement Manager

Reports to: Director of Operations

Travel up to 25% will be required

Job Description:


  • Drive significant year-over-year improvements in quality, delivery, and cost of direct and indirect materials.
  • Manage team of buyers ensuring timely ordering of materials while maintaining quality, delivery, and cost standards.
  • Manage Supplier Scorecard program, conduct quarterly/annual supplier business reviews, and the qualification of new suppliers.
  • Lead negotiations and supply agreements that are broadly strategic - balancing quality, Leadtime, and total delivered cost.
  • Lead the development and improvement of standard and efficient work procedures for the buying team.
  • Communicate key procurement strategies and initiatives throughout the organization, including to key executive leadership.
  • Refine and own cost savings tracking across entire supply chain.
  • Develop and drive Supplier/Product Development Project Management.

Qualifications:


  • 8+ years strategic procurement experience with history of executing contract negotiations. Background in strategic raw material (castings & forgings) and outside machining services is a plus.
  • Strong program/project management skills required with the ability to not only track program performance, but to develop strategic program plans, implement and execute.
  • Proven track record working within a multi-step strategic sourcing process and category management background.
  • Excellent analytical and financial skills.
  • Ability to affect change within an organization.
  • Working level knowledge of the US Navy shipbuilding industry is a plus.
  • Position requires the ability to communicate with all levels and organizations within FEC as well as with the customers.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience working in DoD Environment and government contracting; prior work with the Navy a plus.
  • Excellent skills in customer service, project management, negotiations, problem solving, contracts and finance.
  • Experience creating executive level communications: internal and external customer facing
  • Solid grasp of information technology fundamentals, and ability to leverage technical analysis, presentation, project management, and financial tools.
  • Highly skilled in MS Project, Excel, Word, Power-Point
  • Effective contributor both as an individual and as part of a project group.
  • Ownership for the success/failure of the team.
  • Ability to develop excellent working relationships with co-workers, and team members by generating trust, confidence, and credibility.
  • Skilled in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions on programs to internal and external representatives
  • Ability to absorb and constructively utilize feedback from superiors, subordinates, customers, and peers
  • Excellent professionalism and ethical behavior
  • Excellent organizational skills; detail-orientated and proactive in management of projects and tasks
  • Able to stand or sit for prolonged periods, and move about the facility
  • Prolonged periods of time on computer
  • May be on the production floor to research information
  • Occasionally lift and move materials up to 10 pounds
  • Usual office working conditions with the mix of a production environment
