Hourly Pay Range Progression: $27.69 to $30.19 (with annual pay increases)
Shift Premiums: $0.20/hr 2nd and $0.25/hr 3rd

Job Purpose/Scope:
The Tool Maker will provide the required skills and tools to perform machining and tool making services for the entire facility, including the operation of precision machine tools, machine set-up and operation, machine adjustments, equipment repairs and fabrication of repair parts, tools, and fixtures.
Essential Functions
40% Read detailed complex drawings and specifications to create parts and/or assemblies from raw materials. Maintain and service blanking dies and form tooling, high-speed blanking press set-up, and precision machine adjustments.
25% Set-up and operate machine tools to perform various machining operations to precise specifications, including but not limited to: mills, lathes, grinders, CNC’s, saws, and drill presses.
25% Operates production machines to determine source of malfunction or effectiveness of repair, also performs other associated production support duties as directed by supervisor.
10% Performs preventive maintenance on machines and equipment and fills out required forms
and reports.
Reads blueprint, work order and tooling instructions for specifications such as hole locations and size, feed rates, setting speeds and cutting tools to be used. Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, drills, and grinders. Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut. Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine as required. Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications using machinist grade measuring instruments. Maintains working area in a clean, safe, and orderly condition. Maintain tolerances determined by part specifications Ability to perform preventative maintenance and maintain the area’s 5S standards
· Experience
This position requires a High School diploma and a minimum of 4 years’ experience in industrial machining or tool making. Journeyman certification preferred, but not required.
· Skills
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules/programs, schematics, prints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
REASONING ABILITY:
The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and use a systematic approach in troubleshooting and solving problems
