Our client is seeking a Network Monitoring Engineer in Miami, FL .
Role Description
• We are seeking a skilled Network Monitoring Engineer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with network monitoring tools, particularly SolarWinds, and will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our network infrastructure through proactive monitoring and optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitoring System Administration: Deploy, configure, and manage network monitoring platforms, including SolarWinds and other related tools.
• Proactive Monitoring: Develop and maintain dashboards, alerts, and reporting mechanisms to monitor network and system health, identifying and addressing potential issues before they impact operations.
• System Integration: Integrate network monitoring tools with other IT systems and platforms to streamline operations and enhance visibility.
• Optimization & Tuning: Analyze and optimize network monitoring configurations to ensure efficient performance and scalability.
• Troubleshooting: Collaborate with IT and network teams to investigate and resolve monitoring-related issues.
• Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for network monitoring configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Compliance: Ensure monitoring systems adhere to security standards and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to define monitoring requirements and implement solutions.
Qualifications:
• Experience: 3+ years of experience in network monitoring and management, with a strong focus on SolarWinds.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in configuring and managing monitoring tools like SolarWinds, NetCool, or Nagios.
• Strong understanding of network topologies, SNMP, Syslog, and NetFlow.
• Scripting & Automation: Experience in scripting and automation with PowerShell, Python, or similar tools.
• Database Knowledge: Familiarity with databases (SQL preferred) and API integrations for monitoring tools.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications such as SolarWinds Certified Professional (SCP), Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), or equivalent are preferred.
• Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in enterprise-scale or government IT environments.
• Strong knowledge of system and networking concepts.
• Functional knowledge of network components such as switches, routers, firewalls, proxies, and load balancers.
Skills & Requirements
• 7+ years' experience with network monitoring and management in complex, enterprise environments
• Must possess experience and proficiency with administering, configuring, and managing SolarWinds Network Performance Monitoring platform
• Must possess strong hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls, including configuration, management, and troubleshooting
• Must possess strong hands-on experience with Cisco firewalls, including configuration, management, and troubleshooting
• Must possess strong scripting and automation skills with PowerShell, Python or similar tools to automate network monitoring tasks
• Must possess familiarity with databases and API integrations to integrate monitoring tools with other IT systems
• Must possess strong technical troubleshooting and optimization skills - excellent problem-solving skills to investigate and resolve network monitoring issues and optimize configurations
• Relevant certifications such as SolarWinds Certified Professional (SCP), Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), or equivalent
