How will you make an impact?
As a Senior Buyer, you will support production operations by optimizing material costs, developing supply chain strategies, and negotiating pricing and agreements. You will also provide leadership to Workcell Material Planners and Buyers, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness in procurement and inventory management.
What will you do?
Team Leadership & Development:
Supervise and mentor Material Planners and Buyers, providing training, tools, and resources.
Develop and facilitate Workcell-specific training programs.
Motivate and challenge the team to drive performance improvements.
Procurement & Cost Optimization:
Execute cost-saving strategies while improving purchasing efficiency.
Focus on inventory management to increase turns and reduce costs.
Implement and drive consignment programs with suppliers.
Negotiate terms, including liability, special stocking arrangements, and other agreements beyond standard terms.
Supplier & Supply Chain Management:
Work with internal teams and customers to add preferred/strategic suppliers to the Approved Manufacturer’s List (AML).
Understand supplier capabilities, market trends, and technology developments for assigned commodities.
Collaborate with Business Development to obtain customer authorization for additional expenses such as material premiums, freight, and tooling charges.
Operational & Strategic Execution:
Support and execute MRP planning in coordination with Material Planners and Buyers.
Align purchasing strategies with Materials Supervisors and Materials Managers.
Apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies to optimize processes.
Ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety standards and workplace regulations.

Typically reports to Materials Supervisor or Materials Manager.
How will you get here?
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Materials Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or equivalent.
Minimum one year of relevant professional experience in procurement or supply chain.
At least 2 years of experience in a purchasing role.
Equivalent education, training, or experience may be considered.
Preferred:
MBA
APICS/NAPM certification
Knowledge & Skills:
Strong analytical, multitasking, and communication skills (oral and written).
Ability to identify and resolve issues independently while providing leadership.
Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and advanced PC skills.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
Work Environment:
Onsite at the production facility, primarily in the office with regular visits to the manufacturing floor, warehouse, and receiving areas.
Noise levels range from low to moderate.
Physical Demands:
Sitting or standing for extended periods.
Close vision for computer work and reading documents.
Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
Safety glasses and steel-toed shoes required on the manufacturing floor.
