Position OverviewThe Undergraduate Engineering Ambassadors serve as the student representatives for the School of Engineering. They assist the Undergraduate Recruitment team in undergraduate recruitment efforts in a variety of ways. All class levels are welcome to apply, but preference will be given to those at the sophomore, junior, and senior levels.Job DescriptionAmbassadors are current engineering students who represent the KU School of Engineering through engineering tours, high school visits, and other recruitment events. The purpose of the engineering ambassadors is to provide the student perspective in promoting the School of Engineering to prospective students. The role of an engineering ambassador is to:
5% Attend and complete all ambassador training
55% Provide tours of the Engineering complex and other spaces affiliated with the KU School of Engineering
20% Assist during mandatory recruitment events throughout the school year, including Open House, Scholars Day, Junior/Senior Days, and Industry Events
20% Assist with other recruitment events that come up throughout the year, including high school visits, special tours, and other events
Required QualificationsFull-time engineering student (12 credit hours per semester or more)Preference will be given to those students in good academic standing with a 3.0 or higher GPA
Must progress toward an engineering degree & follow the departmental curriculum guidelines
Preferred QualificationsHave a passion for KU and the School of EngineeringDemonstrate flexibility and problem-solving skills
Great public-speaking skills, personable, and approachable
Position RequirementsDuring the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).Employment Conditions(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position.
