Job Description:

As the Associate eDiscovery Analyst on our Enterprise Risk and Compliance team, you’ll provide hands-on technical support for legal holds and eDiscovery requests, including collecting, processing, culling and producing data. You’ll also assist with early case assessment relative to data locations and technology capabilities to ensure data collections are consistent with eDiscovery best practices. The ideal candidate will have knowledge across the full Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM), with the confidence to manage all aspects of eDiscovery projects.

This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days at a Best Buy location and some days virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.

What you’ll do


  • Use eDiscovery software to issue legal holds and process large data volumes, including deduplication, deNISTing, filtering and keyword searching

  • Lead the execution of eDiscovery operational tasks, including physical, remote and cloud collections and evidence management

  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for eDiscovery processes, ensuring consistency and adherence to industry standards

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address challenges and optimize eDiscovery workflows

  • Provide support and training to junior team members and consult with legal teams to develop search syntax for use in keyword searching

  • Upgrade application and system software as needed


Basic qualifications

  • 3 years of eDiscovery experience, including preservation, collection, scoping and review of data from a broad array of repositories and systems, including Microsoft Compliance Center

  • In-depth knowledge of eDiscovery processes, tools (Encase, Nuix, Relativity, etc.) and best practices

  • High attention to detail with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with legal, IT and other stakeholders

  • Understanding of file systems and hard disk drive structures


Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology, or a related field advanced certification (e.g., EnCEP, CEDS)

  • Industry relevant certifications or training (e.g., Nuix or EnCase).

  • Familiar with basic Exchange recipient administration concepts (journaling, mailbox, shared mailbox)

  • Strong understanding of legal and regulatory requirements related to eDiscovery, data privacy, records management and information governance
