Coordinator of Parent and Family Services and Off-Campus Student Services



The Coordinator of Parent and Family Services (PFS) is responsible for developing lasting relationships with parents and families that strengthen university ties throughout the college experience while enhancing retention and completion of SUU's students. The Coordinator serves as a primary point person and trusted resource for SUU's parents and
families through strategic communication and programming They also serve as an expert on off-campus resources available to SUU students, specifically regarding off-campus housing availability. They build and maintain relationships with local landlords and maintain SUU's database of details about available beds in the community.



Duties and Responsibilities:


  1. Coordinate communication with parents and families by developing
    publications such as handbooks and newsletters, managing PFS
    social media accounts and the SUU PFS website, responding
    promptly to inquiries, and ensuring timely distribution of resources
    to parents and families of SUU students.
  2. Plan, coordinate and execute parent and family events, such as
    Parent & Family Weekend, and parent components of Thunder U,
    Orientation, etc. Additionally, attend Student Affairs' and Enrollment Services' events to welcome students and their families to SUU
    while they learn about the institution.
  3. Serve as the main point of contact for inquiries related to
    off-campus housing, track available bed data for each fall semester,
    and maintain SUU's off-campus housing website with regular
    updates.
  4. Communicate regularly with local landlords to collect information on
    available student housing; monitor housing trends in Cedar City
    including cost, availability, and application processes.
  5. Monitor the Nest (SUU's walk-in help center) to assist students and
    support the operation of the Aces peer mentoring program, as
    needed.
  6. Other duties as assigned


Education and Experience Requirements:


  1. 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree
  2. Proven ability to successfully coordinate and execute large-scale events
  3. Proven ability to proactively problem-solve, prioritize, and utilize good judgment while independently completing projects/tasks, including those requiring collection, summary, and presentation of detailed data
  4. Demonstrated ability to interact and collaborate effectively with parents, families, community members (including landlords), and other university stakeholders
  5. Ability to effectively communicate to students concepts and processes related to securing off-campus housing
  6. Outstanding written, verbal and interpersonal skills including proven effectiveness in one-on-one communication as well as in presenting before groups
  7. Knowledge of national trends, current issues, including health and wellness, and best practices in higher education, especially those involving parents and families.
