Job Description:

As an Energy Project Management Specialist, you will support the development and delivery of company energy programs from planning and design through implementation and closeout. This role requires interaction with a range of internal and external stakeholders, typically managing project tasks simultaneously.


This role involves program/project management and operational support through the completion of project tasks and development of program and project documents, and monitoring adherence to perpetual project management process standards.  The Energy Project Management Associate/Specialist must have knowledge and experience in schedule management, vendor management, production management, and financial management.

The Energy Project Management Specialist is responsible for supporting the Energy Program Manager with ensuring all team members adhere to program policies and procedures and contractually mandated schedules. They must use their knowledge of best practices in project management and clean energy to recommend corrective action for schedule, ensure timely delivery of multiple project milestones simultaneously, and communicate project expectations, rules, or standards.

  • Support the definition and analysis of project scopes and objectives, including review and approval of cost estimates.

  • Support the preparation of project plans, including workflows, detailed schedules, procedures, and any other tools necessary in the development and implementation of day-to-day project tasks.

  • Assist with the management of contracts and agreements by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables.

  • Anticipate and adjust project plans for the efficient execution of project tasks.

  • Coordinate with support areas in the benefit of project execution.

  • Prepare comprehensive project status reports, as needed.

  • Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress.

  • Update information on the project management development, tools, regulations, and client requests.

  • Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution.

  • Support quality assurance and control reviews and production of all phases of projects.

  • Office environment / HORNE Offices


Physical demands



  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Required education and experience



  • Bachelor's degree in business management or administration, project management, planning, or public policy, preferably with a focus on the energy industry and/or climate change; master’s degree preferred.

  • Authorized to work in the United States.

  • 3+ years of experience in project management with an emphasis on government program administration and/or energy project management.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Detail oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proven ability to work independently and within in a team environment, and to proactively identify problems and solutions.


Preferred skills



  • E Project Management Professional (PMP)

  • Experience with management of federal funds.

  • Experience within the energy sector, particularly the clean energy sector.

  • Experience with project implementation and closeout.

  • Experience with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices.

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated passion for learning and collaboration.

  • Fluency in both Spanish and English
