Nursing Assistant – NUHW for Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at St Joseph Hospital in Eureka, CA.
Relief position. 12-hour Night shift.
The Nursing Assistant employs intellectual, interpersonal and technical skills to perform basic patient care. Under the supervision of the Assistant Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse or RN, the Nursing Assistant assists with routine, direct bedside care of patients of various ages as defined by the department scope of service. Such duties include, but are not limited to: personal hygiene, data collection and observation, vital signs, I&O, use of equipment, ADL’s, documenting on the medical record, answering call lights, and recognizing and responding to emergency situations.
· Ability to ensure patient confidence and comfort.
· Efficiently communicates with SJHS-HC physicians, nursing staff, patients, their families and other employees both in person and by telephone.
· Reads and comprehends written instructions, correspondence, memorandums and medical records.
· Applies deductive and common sense reasoning ability to problem solve on a frequent basis.
Education: High School graduate or certified equivalency preferred.
Experience: Acute care and/or specialty experience preferred.
Certification: Nursing Assistant certification preferred. Current CPR certification is required.
