Project Manager – Western Region CPG Engineering Group

Georgia-Pacific’s Consumer Products Corporate Engineering team is looking for a Capital Projects Manager to join the western region engineering group located in Camas, Washington.


 

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:


Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the development and execution of capital projects, primarily located in GP’s western region facilities.



  • Develop and evaluate investment alternatives that provide the best long term value creation solution, coordinating with the Facility, Business, Engineering, Sourcing and Legal teams.




  • Detail design of chosen alternative to develop a comprehensive project execution plan.




  • Develop and Execute project investment venture summaries with full responsibility for managing scope, schedule, and estimates while applying judgment, initiative, economic and critical thinking skills.




  • Conduct all affairs with integrity, humility and respect.




  • Coordinate activities of contractors involved in project execution.




  • Partner with procurement and sourcing teams to align on equipment and construction contracting strategies, including bidding, cost evaluation, selection, and award. 




  • Specify equipment and construction requirements to implement projects.




  • Manage third parties including but not limited to outside consultants, contractors, and technical resources.




  • Seek and use best knowledge and proactively share knowledge while embracing challenge to drive innovation.




  • Communicate with operating departments, capability groups, maintenance and engineering to determine opportunities to add value to the facility/company and recommend/implement solutions.




  • Manage the execution of checkout and start-up activities and lead post completion project audits.




  • Apply effective project controls in capital execution, including estimating, scheduling, cost engineering, forecasting, and reporting.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.




  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.



  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.


  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and organize multiple priorities with a sense of urgency.




  • Ability to understand and develop relationships with mill and division leadership to anticipate and satisfy their needs.




  • Strong computer skills in MS Office Suite, and Microsoft Project.




  • Ability to obtain and apply meaningful feedback from key stakeholders.




  • Customer focused, continually seeking innovative ways to improve project execution. 




  • Ability to collaborate with other team members and resources.




 

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Management or other Technology degree

  • Minimum of 7 years of project management experience in an industrial environment.

  • Ability to work in a variety of manufacturing and construction environments, including nights and weekends if required

  • Regional travel up to 50%


 

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Degree in Electrical or Process Control Engineering

  • 10 years of project management experience

  • Experience in pulp & paper and/or industrial processes and systems
