Project Manager – Western Region CPG Engineering Group
Georgia-Pacific’s Consumer Products Corporate Engineering team is looking for a Capital Projects Manager to join the western region engineering group located in Camas, Washington.
A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
Lead and manage the development and execution of capital projects, primarily located in GP’s western region facilities.
Develop and evaluate investment alternatives that provide the best long term value creation solution, coordinating with the Facility, Business, Engineering, Sourcing and Legal teams.
Detail design of chosen alternative to develop a comprehensive project execution plan.
Develop and Execute project investment venture summaries with full responsibility for managing scope, schedule, and estimates while applying judgment, initiative, economic and critical thinking skills.
Conduct all affairs with integrity, humility and respect.
Coordinate activities of contractors involved in project execution.
Partner with procurement and sourcing teams to align on equipment and construction contracting strategies, including bidding, cost evaluation, selection, and award.
Specify equipment and construction requirements to implement projects.
Manage third parties including but not limited to outside consultants, contractors, and technical resources.
Seek and use best knowledge and proactively share knowledge while embracing challenge to drive innovation.
Communicate with operating departments, capability groups, maintenance and engineering to determine opportunities to add value to the facility/company and recommend/implement solutions.
Manage the execution of checkout and start-up activities and lead post completion project audits.
Apply effective project controls in capital execution, including estimating, scheduling, cost engineering, forecasting, and reporting.
Knowledge and Skills
Strong interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and organize multiple priorities with a sense of urgency.
Ability to understand and develop relationships with mill and division leadership to anticipate and satisfy their needs.
Strong computer skills in MS Office Suite, and Microsoft Project.
Ability to obtain and apply meaningful feedback from key stakeholders.
Customer focused, continually seeking innovative ways to improve project execution.
Ability to collaborate with other team members and resources.
What You Will Need:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Management or other Technology degree
- Minimum of 7 years of project management experience in an industrial environment.
- Ability to work in a variety of manufacturing and construction environments, including nights and weekends if required
- Regional travel up to 50%
What Will Put You Ahead?
- Degree in Electrical or Process Control Engineering
- 10 years of project management experience
- Experience in pulp & paper and/or industrial processes and systems
