Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
The Division of Exercise Physiology, West Virginia University School of Medicine (http://www.hsc.wvu.edu/som/ep) invites applications from outstanding candidates for a non-tenure track (12 month) position. It is anticipated that the faculty appointment will be made as an INSTRUCTOR or ASSISTANT PROFESSOR in Exercise Physiology.
This position will be multi-dimensional. The successful candidate will assume the primary responsibilities as the offsite internship coordinator, including supervision of local internship sites, meeting with internship site supervisors and providing reports to the chair regarding these and new sites that would be established by the candidate. The candidate will also provide advising support for students on campus, in part to develop a program that works with students who find themselves in academic difficulty. Finally, the candidate will teach in the undergraduate program of the Division of Exercise Physiology. The candidates at the rank of Assistant Professor will be expected to teach in our Masters program, which is ranked in the top 10 nationally by the Chronicle of Higher Education, as well as be involved in research.
A PhD or PhD/MD degree is preferred. However, applicants who hold a minimum of an MS in Exercise Physiology or a closely related field at the time of their appointment and who are committed to pursuing a doctoral degree will be considered. Individuals with one to three years teaching and advising experience in Exercise Physiology/Kinesiology will be considered for the rank of Instructor and those with more than three years teaching and advising experience will be considered at the Assistant Professor rank. Candidates who have relevant laboratory teaching expertise in Exercise Physiology (e.g., cardiovascular physiology and strength and conditioning) and also have expertise in advising students at an institution of higher education are especially encouraged to apply. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
This appointment is offered in accordance with the provisions of West Virginia University as described in the Faculty Handbook (http://wvufaculty.wvu.edu/r/download/29561). The appointment will begin on or before June 1, 2018.
